Winter warmer with hints of spice and herb and a vinous quality in the finish. Quite a weak palate. Not my thing.

From brewers droop, Bristol
500 ml bottle [BBE:4.7%]
Blood Alc: 34mg/100ml

Aroma is burned chocolate and vanilla. Colour is black with a coagulent white head. The beer is quite tangy with heavily roasted to burnt flavours and the texture is halfway between water and a thick stout. there is a sweetness to balance the roasty flavours but the drink does lack excitement or interest. Definitely a bbf beer, it?s good, has a little character but nothing amazing.

Aroma: toasted malts, light coffee and chocolate. Appearance: dark, murky, brown, small, beige head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: sweets remain, milk and lacto flavours, chocolate, light bitters towards the end. Overall: nice Oatmeal Porter, well balanced, yet missing the seasonal spices. Bottle from Independent Spirit, Bath.

A bristoli főzde marketingeseinek vélhetően nem okozott sok álmatlan éjszakát ünnepi italuk címkéjének a megtervezése, ezt a részt talán elegánsan át is ugorhatjuk. Az illatok terén nyújtott teljesítmény már sokkal rokonszenvesebb, a kólaszínű testből fűszeres élesztő, üde és gyümölcsös maláta aromája somfordál elő, amit sietve meg is hosszabbítunk az első kortyok során előálló élménnyel, melyben a prímet szintén a banános, mazsolás díszítőelemek viszik az egyébként meglehetősen telt és strukturált jellegű, tartalmas italban. A selymesen gabonás testet lágyan cifrázzák ki a rendkívül apró szemű, és letompított hegyű szénsavmolekulák, bársonyosan terül szét a szánkban a malátás ízfolyam, amit aztán pókhálószerűen fon körbe a gyógynövényes, karcosan füves komló szigorú karaktere, miközben az összhatást remekül árnyalja az aszalt gyümölcsök élénk játéka. Élvezetes, egyszerű és mégis izgalmas darab.

Keg at Beer Emporium. It pours hazy deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is caramel, wood, leather, toasted sugar, fruit cake and light spice. The taste is smooth, caramel, sour fruits, dried berry, wood, leather and spice with a dry finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. Smooth, drinkable and balanced. Decent.

Bottle from trembling Madness, York. This is a very dark brown-black beer with chocolate and spiced red fruity flavours, plum notes and a slight sour creamy fruity finish.

Very much brown ale-esque. Pours nutty brown colour with small transient tan-head. Quite a soft nose requires concerted inspection. Slightly herbal, with some plum and raisins, Doesn’t really come alive until mid-palate with some dark malt then builds with raisins, dark-berries and a little orange. Without the belgian yeast this beer wouldn’t stand up. It stoutly carries the beer preventing it from vanishing into a watery disappointment as so many brown-ales do. Decent but uninspiring.

Hazy brown beer, good off white head. Crispy palate, semi dry. Semi sweet malts, thin and a little dry. Mellow ginger and a trace of lactose. Finishes dry. It’s okay but not floating my boat.
