Winter warmer with hints of spice and herb and a vinous quality in the finish. Quite a weak palate. Not my thing.

Dark chestnut with fluffy cream head. Herbal corriander and fruit cake on the nose. Juicy malt at first followed by minerally water and dusty English hops. Not really a festive one.

Bottle at ChrisO tasting, thanks to Fergus, 30/12/12. Hazed dark amber with a thin off white head that clears. Nose is dark malt, fruit, spice. Taste comprises much of the same. Medium bodied, slightly on the thin side, some spice and bitterness in the finish. Very average, certainly the lowest scoring and dullest beer I’ve had from BBF.

Bottle at Chriso’s tasting 30/12/12. Mineral Chalky aroma. orange nut brown in colour. Metalic chalky and slightly herbal. Not on par with other BBF beers i have made.

Bottled (from Ales By Mail). Coppery amber colour with a mediumsized beige foamy head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is the traditional "beer poop" (drink beers 2-3 days, including a bunch of yeasty ones, go for a poop and the sweetish strange poopy notes you get is close to this). Flavour is mildly spicy, herbal with some sweet malts and mild bittering notes. Quite watery and dull. Best Before 17/10/2013 (I rarely mention BBE’s, but I had to with this one, as if it’s rather crap now, it will be rotten crap by the BBE date). Funny enough about one minute after swallowing a mouthful of this, you get some slight cinnamon notes to it. This will be a no go for the future.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Brum. Rather a normal Bitter, with some sort of spice content. A quite normalish Xmas beer.

Unbalanced christmas like ale with nutmeg, coriander and i really had trouble finishing this. Some cinnamon. bit watery for a winter warmer.I gave it to my spouse who would give it a 3.5. I do love the brewery that makes this. Not my style but my wife and family are British and the enjoyed it.

Bottle at the Shoulder of Mutton 21.06.12 in company of Peter Fowler who cracked this open, cheers Peter. Chesnut in colour with a slim off-white head that swiftly departed. From the description I understand that there is ginger and coriander in here but they are pleasantly subtle enough not to ruin things. The hoppiness is still there this is lovely and fruity. Like this. A7 A4 T7 P3 Ov14 3.5
