3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma was subdued, definitely some yeast and a little citrus but not the clove or banana presence indicative of a hefe. Taste is yeast with hint of banana. Light body with unsatisfying thin feel. Has a rather unsuspected light bitterness that creeps up on you. The qualities of hefeweizen are present but it doesnít go beyond replica status.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Popcorn nose and very tingly on the palate, maybe a little too vigourous for my liking but still plesant. Great for the summer but I tried this a bit late in the year! It has an interesting biscuitesque taste which trails off over a while and is elemental of the traditional wheat beer flavour, yet shifted.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20

Very hazy gold beer, big white head. Palate is light and dry and airy. Minerally freshness. Mild dry tangy fruits. Whisper of smoke. Dry finish. Somewhat over carbnonated and clunky.

50 cl bottle.
Pours hazy golden-copper color with a small head. Aroma of apricot, some ctirus fruits, yeast, mild wheat and grass. Flavor of hops, grass, apricot, citric fruits and wheat. Strong carbonation, sourish finish. Not your normal hefe, decent though.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from Stirchley Wines. Hazy amber beer with a large head. Aroma is of faint bananas and nothing much else. Taste is a bit of banana, spice and wheat. A dull version of a hefe if ever there was one. Donít let this be your first try at this style or you may never want to try another again. Disappointing for the style, but drinkable as a beer.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle.
Pours a hazy orange colour with a white foamy head. Aroma of dry hay, wheat and some cardboard. Flavour of sweet malts, mild sourness, cardboard, wheat, dried fruits and some grapefruit. Light bodied, slick mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Finishes wheaty and a bit sour. Iím guessing this isnít as fresh as itís supposed to be.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle. Hazy golden colour with average, frothy, half-way lasting, white head. Fruity aroma has notes of banana, lemon, a spicy yeasty touch. Taste is fresh, fruity, banana, lemon, some clove, some spicy yeast. A bit light on the malty side - not really watery, but somehow split into two-thirds of neutral "substance" and just one-third tasty "form".

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Birstol Hefe is a bottle conditioned wheat beer, not a brilliantly described beer. There are certainly strong tastes of banana and cloves but that is almost the extent of the flavour, it is best served room temperature, and the cloves make is a refreshing beer with a lingering taste. It is worth a try but not one the finest examples of this type of beer.
