Bottle at home, 12 stouts BBF online, 24/01/13 (Happy 70th Mum!). Pours a light shade of black, almost extremely dark mahogony brown, with a patchy tan head. Nose is dark roast malts, toffee, light coffee, dark fruits, touch of liqourice. Initially too cold as straight from the outhouse so returning later to continue the rate. Far better flavours after 45/50 minutes warming. Taste comprises roast malt, dark plummy fruit, mineral tones, molasses, touch of liqourice, hint of chocolate. Medium bodied, moderate caronation - perhaps a touch OTT here, dry finish. Ok stout.

Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Massive thanks to Jack for tracking down the ever-elusive 5% version. How does he doe it? Pours clear brown with a frothy beige head. Chalky, dry and dusty cocoa in the nose. Light sweet flavor, some sweet cocoa, toasty bread, light dirt. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Dirty earth to finish, dry cocoa, toast. Very nice stout. Good balance, reasonable depth.
