COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
Black with a ruby-red tint, velvety and full-flavoured Stout. Well balanced and warming, rich and malty dry "Irish-style" Stout has a smooth full flavour, from the addition of flaked oats, with a long bitter finish.
In the 18th Century the Irish (tired of importing Porters and Stouts from Bristol and London) started making their own Stouts. A few hundred years later the Bristol Beer Factory (tired of importing Stout from Ireland) created a tasty blend of 7 malts to rival the most flavoursome beers of this style.

Bottle at my Pre-CBC Tune-Up Tasting. It pours deep brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is chocolate, roasted malt, meat, caramel and a touch of soy sauce. The taste is tangy dark fruit, roasted malt, toast, caramel and chocolate, with a dry-roasted finish. Medium body and soft carbonation. So-so.

Bottle at home. Black pour, slight reddish tinge. Medium bubbly beige head, fades with little lacing. Nose is nice, big ovaltine, chocolate, some oatmeal, roast malts. Slightly thin palate, dry roast malts, hint of chocolate, more oatmeal. Slightly thin - would benefit from a fuller body on cask perhaps. Medium bitter ashy finish.

Bottle. Deep brown black, fast-fading tan head. Lovely chocolate nose with a touch of vanilla and cream. Bit watery on the front, but finishes with nice dark mocha flavours. Carbonation a bit too strong for the texture, but very nice flavours nonetheless.

[500ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk, as part of ’12 stouts of Christmas’] Black pour, decent white head. Roasty chocolate aroma. Slightly bitter toasty chocolate finish. Thin and sessionable. Finish is dry. A good stout, it would be very nice on cask, I’d think [20122011]

12 stouts of Christmas tasting with Craig and Rich. Pours a dark brown colour with a thin, light tan head. Nice malty aroma with chocolate, alcohol, Weetabix and a little milk. Similar flavours, definite milky, Ovaltine finish. Quite nice.
