COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
BRISTOL VINTAGE 2011, is a beer we have created to celebrate the 1000th brew in our brewery. It only seemed right to celebrate this milestone with an extra special beer.

Tasting notes;
A very dark beer with a slight red hue to it, there is a sweet aroma of raspberries. It is a rich, full-bodied beer, with berry fruits to the fore and with chocolate and toasted notes. The finish lingers with a nice hint of oak and moreish hop bitterness. Bristol Vintage is delicious fresh, with the hop characters really prevalent, however it will age really well, developing flavour and complexity as the hop flavours diminish and the strong malt backbone of the beer takes over. Try it fresh, but also put a bottle away for months or years into the future. A unique, one and done beer, but hopefully the first of an annual release of a Bristol Vintage. An extra special brew day was required to produce the amount of beer we wanted to get, Simon starting the brew day off at 1am, and Chris finishing the day at gone 9pm. 3 mashes were required to produce the 6000 pints we wanted. Hops were selected from England, Germany, New Zealand and the US that all bring something different to the beer, and lead to a distinctive hop presence that compliments the malts and balances the beer. MD, Simon Bartlett, along with brewers Chris Kay and Brett Ellis have carefully selected 5 malts and 4 of our favourite hop varieties to make a full flavoured strong dark ale. After fermentation the beer was aged on some fresh English Oak to add another layer of complexity to it.

Belter of a beer - really rich, fruity nose and huge raisiny goodness in the flavour. A good equal to e.g. Fullers VA - not quite the majesty of Fullers but pretty close. Awesome.

Bottle. 2012 vintage. An unclear, dark amber beer topped by a small, dense, beige head. Nice lacings. The aroma is sugary and malty, with some dried fruits and canned tropical fruits. Some sourish hints and green grapes. It’s soft on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Medium body, semi-dry. Caramel maltyness, dark sugar, dried fruits and some resiny bitterness in the flavor. Some sourish hints too. Seems to be slightly off this one. Not that it matters, it’s quite uninteresting anyway. 141011

500ml bottle [2012 vintage]. Clear, reddish, dark amber colour with average, thick, creamy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Sweetish malty aroma has notes of lingonberry and other red berries, a cautious touch of toffee, a dry, woody touch. Taste is slightly sweet malty with a cautious touch of toffee, dry and fruity hoppy overtones with notes of red berries and their parings, a dry oaky touch. Very easy drinking, well hidden alcohol, counter-style facileness.

2011 bottle - thanks Dave! Deep red-brown with a thin cream head and a musty woody nose with hints of old wine barrels and maybe a little dark dried fruit. Palate has caramel, red fruit and some more barrel notes, but also with a yeasty and oxidised note. Interesting and reasonably complex, but not a good result overall.

McWorta (606) - LUXEMBOURG - APR 11, 2014
2012 - Pours a lightly hazy brown coloured beer with copper red reflexions and a lasting creamy light tan head. On the nose aromas of milk chocolate, malts and red fruits like raspberry, black and red currant develop and intermingle nicely. The tase continues the red fruit topic with clearly raspberry dominating. Still light caramel malt notes are noticeable. A fresh light textured beer with a medium body with fruity sweet-bitter and some sour notes. The finish is moderately fruity.
