COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned; Special.
Local chilli’s from the Upton Cheney Chilli Farm have infused our rich chocolate stout with a subtle amount of chilli aroma & a pleasent warming aftertaste. The fruitburst habanero chilli gives a big hot kick, so we have been careful to use it respectfully. The chilli adds something different to the stout working well with the bitter chocolate flavour without overpowering the other flavours in the beer.

Bottle at Scopey’s Pre-CBC tune-up. The beer pours deep brown with a small tan head. The nose is sweet chocolate cake frosting and deep fudge. You also get hints of chili pepper. The taste is much the same – plenty of lactose, and dark toasty chocolate. I don’t get nearly as much chili pepper flavor in the taste as I do the aroma. The beer’s full bodied and quite sweet. Overall, I found this a little unbalanced and boring. Some drier flavors would have balanced this out a bit, in my opinion.

Bottle at my Pre-CBC Tune-Up Tasting. It pours very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is warming chilli pepper (but not overpowering), caramel and roasted malt. The taste is roasted malt, chilli pepper, caramel and chocolate, with some lingering spice in the finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Thankfully the chilli is pretty restrained. Not too bad at all.

ChrisOs Early December Tasting. Clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Light palate, semi dry. Sweetish dark malt. Just a mild chilli thing going on, not too much burn. Finishes light and semi dry. Mild sweet chocolate. Allright.

Bottle. Almomst black in colour with a decent, tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate with a hint of warmth and roastiness. Flavour had plenty more chocolate, with some prickly chilli warmth kicking in at the finish. Subtle and enjoyable.

Bottle 500ml. @ chriso [ oh6gdx birthday bash tasting ].

Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet chili fruit. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and light moderate bitter with a average to long duration, chili. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20111203]

Bottle at home. Pours black, thin tan head. Bit grassy on the aroma, but with distinct chocolate, vanilla and cream. Flavours of nice stouty chocolate, but the chocolate is more in the (pleasantly fizzy) palate. A real grower.

Bottle at home shared with my dad 20.12.11 ordered direct from Bristol Beer Factory. Pours black with a light beige head, another good looker. The chilli is far more subtle than I was expecting having had a look at some of the ratings, in fact it works very well here. This is warming and chocolatey, quite thick in the mouth, smooth and creamy and heading towards being indulgent, it’s lovely. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

[500ml bottle courtesy of cgarvieuk, as part of ’12 stouts of Christmas’] Black pour, decent tan head. Chilli on the nose, along with capsicum pepper. On the taste, chocolate at first, then mild rising chilli. Not really strong, the chilli heat is always in the background. Bitter, slightly sharp, dry finish. More pepper. Some chilli beers are completely OTT, but this one has it just about perfect [20122011]
