Bottle at Stout 3 & Freestyle Tasting, thanks to Jack.... It pours darkest brown with a small beige head. The nose is coconut, vanilla, wood, light roasted malt and burnt sugar. The taste is fairly sweet, roasted malt, caramel, wood, toffee, dark fruit, vanilla, toast and earth with a sweet finish . Medium-full body and fine carbonation. Decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 downender (5191) - Bristol, Gloucestershire, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2013
Bottle as part of the 12 stouts of Christmas. Dark brown with a big, frothy off-white head. Aroma of molasses, chocolate, wood and a hint of vanilla. Flavour had more chocolate, some prunes and oak, before sweet rum took over leading to a gently, slightly creamy finish. Very enjoyable.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 oh6gdx (18576) - Vasa, FINLAND - DEC 31, 2012
Bottled (from Ales By Mail). Black colour mediumsized brown head. Aroma is liquorice, some dry ripe fruity sweetness as well as mild rum. Flavour is rather similar with quite a stinging sweet sweetness, probably from the rum. I note no vanilla in here, so it tastes more like a Tiramisu stout... Yet very pleasant, though I had hoped for a vanilla bomb with this one...
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 Alecwallace (83) - West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 24, 2012
This is my fourth BBF 12 Stouts of Christmas. The aroma is rum and raisin ice cream, followed by Christmas pudding! Rum and vanilla in the taste and subtle carbonation gives a creamy mouthfeel. There is an astringent bitterness which isnt unpleasant. Another BBF success.
3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 mR_fr0g (439) - Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 21, 2012
Bottle at home as part of the 12 stouts of Christmas. Black in colour with a soft brown tan slightly grey head. Quite lively out of the bottle and the head sticks around for a good while.
Aromas of earthy damp wood. There is also a little bit of brown sugar sweetness in the nose. Flavours of boozy raisin with sharp roasted barley. Moderately sweet finish and the rum oak flavour lingering for a long time. Palete is soft and creamy, but with higher than expected carbonation.
Creme Brulee is a bit of a misnomer in this beer. I don’t think the flavour profile represents the well known desert very well at all. That aside the beer stands up for itself pretty well.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 AleTsar (1331) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 18, 2012
Bottle from brewer 12 Stouts 2012 181212
Black, tan head with small bubbles that dissipates to thin layer, some lacing
Aroma - Rum, some alcohol, dark sugars, some vanilla
Taste - Getting a fair amount of rum, some vanilla, dark sugars, creamy dark malts, bit custardy, but the rum isn’t working for me. Seems unbalanced - i’m not liking the flavour.
Palate - Medium carb and body, creamy texture. Sweet and boozy palate. Finish as main flavour with some lingering alcohol, quite dry.
Overall - The abv seemed to higher than it was - considerably boozy. Rather disappointed with this one. Think this is a ’Marmite’ beer. This is the bottom one for me out of the 12.
