50 cl - thanks to Sean. Toll malziger Geruch.
--> Tolles Bier!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Bacchanalia, Cambridge. 500ml bottle conditioned. Pours large, cream head. Transparent mahogany red. Mid-high carbonation. Aroma - Rich, fruity (dark, overripe plums and berries), bit choccy, with good, spicy hops (very english smelling). Nice, fruity, dark aroma, makes it seem a bit vinous. Spicy, aromatic and a bit estery. A bit reminiscent of Broadside. Taste - Rich, fruity (strawberry & darker, overripe fruits), warming, spicy. Good sweet-bitter balance: Starts with some light, biscuity malt sugariness, but not too sweet, and good choc notes, some roast maybe. This fits well with the rich, dark, fruity flavours and spicy hops, ending with a lightly bitter finish, with some spicy flavours remaining. Quite a bit of fruity sugars throughout & a sweet, wineyness to it. Medium-full body, with slight oilyness. A good Old Ale/ESB type beer. Well-balanced and nice, rich, dark flavours and plenty of fruitiness. A good autumn beer.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Cask-conditioned at the Cottage, Bristol 23/5/07. Deep-ruddy brown with a foamy, tan head. Aroma of sweet malts and dark fruit with some accompanying roasted notes. Toffeeish flavour with some hops in the finish. This beer is an attempt to recreate the old Smiles Exhibition and comes pretty close in doing so. Very good.

Cask at the Euston Tap. Pours a clear, orange-brown with a creamy, off-white head. Nose has tons of fruit, grapes, raisins and prunes. Medium sweet flavor with some toffee and more grape, light toast, very mild bitterness. Medium in body with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with loads of ripe fruits and brown sugar. Good beer.

Bottle@home from Ales By Mail, Thanks Paul!
Pours deep garnet red with pale tan head that soon dissipates. Rich fruit shortcake nose with sticky treacle undertones. Quite highly carbonated, the palate is predominantly malt based with a touch of blackcurrant and robust English hop bitter-finish. Some of that shortcake makes it through and perhaps a touch of astringent chicory there too.

Thanks to Gabriel for sharing! Pours a dark cola color with a nice tight tan head. The smell is dark fruit - plum, fig, chocolate and some molasses. Taste is chocolate and dark fruit are inter mingling right from the start - ends dry with some char. Carbonation is a bit course and active, body is light. Pretty nice stuff overall.
