4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20 GhostHardware (2) - Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 26, 2012 does not count
330 ml bottle direct from the brewery. With a high pour one can rouse a thin coffee-coloured head that lasts. Beer is black as night. Hot, whisky and dark, roasted aroma. Mouthfeel is thick and full. Burnt and bitter gives way to a lovely, fiery whisky flavour and heat that lingers. Unquestionable whisky content. Rich, satisfying, and dangerous. The perfect nightcap.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jackl (727) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2012
Bottle at Scopey’s Pre-CBC tune-up. The pour’s deep brown with a tiny tan head. The nose is mild bourbon wood and deep milk chocolate sweetness. It’s a light nose, but I also get some leather and salty driftwood. The taste is lightly tangy sugary whiskey backed up by large notes of deep chocolate and harvest fruits. The beer’s lightly vinous, full-bodied and strong. Overall, one of the better Bristol stouts I tried on the night.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Scopey (1659) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
Bottle at my Pre-CBC Tune-Up Tasting. It pours very dark brown, with a thin beige head. The nose is honey, whisky, vanilla, marshmallow and toasted coconut. The taste is roasted malt, charcoal, caramel, toffee, toast, marshmallow, whisky, honey and citrus peel, with a long warming finish. Medium-full body and moderate carbonation. I really enjoyed this one, the Glenlivet comes through pretty well.

UPDATED: APR 23, 2012 330ml bottle from Alexander Wines, Coventry. Glossy black with a loose-bubbled tan head. Brackish, coal-dusted, Baltic aroma with underlying bramble and coffee. Sweet and warming with a dominant liquorice character tipping into occasional sourness. The liquorice is somewhat overpowering. Decent brew with streaks of sweet oak, spiritous heat, TCP and blackcurrant...but a touch too Allsorts-flavoured for my liking.

Opaque, near black with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of whisky with some chocolate and a touch of fruit. Flavour had caramel, more chocolate and some warming whisky notes. Very good.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 omegamike (90) - York, North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 15, 2012
Black with a thin tan head. Aromas of toffee, roasted malts, liquer chocolates. Mouthfeel is initially very substantial, but goes a little cloying in the finish. Flavours of toffee, oak, some espresso sourness, with a long raisiny fruit finish. Pretty good, but not the best in class.

3rd December 2011 ChrisOs Early December Tasting. Opaque black beer, light palate. Semi dry and semi crisp. Tangy dark malt. Mild whisky. A little lacto cream. Dry finish. Okay but for a big abv beer it could do with a little more complexity.

Bottled@my birthdaybash@Chriso. Black colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is big time whisky with a good beery body as well. Very Islay like. Flavour is similar in a good balance. Less aggressive than the Laphroaig cask one.
