Black pour. Small tan head. No lacing. Huge vanilla, bourbon, malt aromas. Taste is similar with more bourbon. Dry finish. Not bad. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Brum. Supremely smooth mouthfeel - delightful. This is subtle, yet deliciously flavoured. I have no clue about whisky, but the flavour is unmistakeable here, and delicious. Not sure the base Impy is actually that spectacular, but with the barrel ageing it becomes very tasty.

Clear dark black colour with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, alcohol - bourbon, light wood. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chocolate, roasted, sweet malt bourbon. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light to moderate alcoholic. [20130127]

Bottle at home. Opaque black caramle, greyish brown head. Some legs. Oaky vanilla aroma. A little bit bozzy and choc nose. Flavour is rich and complex raisin rum, oak, vanilla. Some oak tanin. Persistant long oaky after flavour. Silky palete.

Bottle @Bruce’s, thanks to jackl. It pours opaque dark brown with a small tan head. The nose is chocolate, roasted malt, toast, earth, toasted coconut and vanilla. The taste is roasty, toast, charred wood, light vanilla, fudge, caramel and light booze. Medium-full body and fine-moderate carbonation. Flavoursome, well-balanced and tasty. Probably the best of the BBF stouts.

Bottle at home, Easter Sunday 2013. Good smokey and woody aroma, nice looking drink. Taste is a little too dominated by bourbon and oak, I miss the liquorice and coffee I like in my imperial stouts, still pretty drinkable

Bottle @ Bruce’s. The pour’s deep brown with a small head. The nose is smoke, hints of sweet vanilla, wood. Raisin chocolate cake. The taste is smooth fudge, some almond, vanilla. A bit of charred wood. Full body, oily and smooth. Overall, not the most complex beast, but really drinkable. Pretty pleasing stuff.

Aroma has grass, vanilla, strong bourbon notes, some roastiness and hints of bready malt. Flavour has salty licorice, peat, vanilla, bourbon, woody and herbal notes. Too woody and too strong on bourbon and woody notes, but decent anyway.

Pours pitch black color with a small beige head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon notes, dark roasted malts, some dark chocolate and caramel, faint licorice notes too. Flavor of vanilla, dark malts, chocolate, mild cocoa notes, some sugar, tar and faint coffee notes. Nice creamy palate with a smooth chocolaty finish.

Pours a pitch black colour with a beige head. Aroma of strong bourbon, vanilla and caramel. Flavour of roasted malts, bourbon, vanilla, caramel, chocolate chip cookies and tar. Full bodied, oily smooth mouthfeel and a smooth, vanilla, bourbon finish. Well balanced and pleasant.
