330ml bottle (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Fest2013)
Nice vanilla aroma. Classic bourbon, but not boozy bourbon. Some butter from the wood too. Lovely. Black, small ring head. Lovely smooth palate, sweet apple retronasals. Lovely sweet body, but not sugary. Nicely roasted, but no ashiness. Some dark choc in the finish. Gets a bit dryer in the palate later, but the aroma if anything improves. Delicious.

Bottled 33cl tasted at GB RAF. Slightly smoky nose. Beige lasting head. Dark brownish black color. Slightly sweet taste with some hints of vanilla. Also some sourness and hints of coffee.

Bottle 33 cl, BBE 08/11/2015. Pours dark reddish brown, thick creamy tan head. Licorice mostly in aroma at first with some oaky barrel whiskey notes coming through. Loads of vanilla in aroma too. Bitter chocolate, vanilla and some roasted coffee notes in aftertaste as well. Really smooth and scaringly easy to drink. Sweet bourbon notes in finish. One of the better imperial stouts that has come around lately.

In a snifter for a treat. Nice bourbon hit, good depth, warmth coming through in the finish, that 4 months is optimum. Is it snowing outside?

330 ml bottle. BB 08/11/2015. The Gallows Bird XVI Real Ale Festival, Espoo, Finland. Black colour with small tan head. Strong malty aroma with alcohol, some hops and whisky sweetness. Flavour is quite like wise. Hmm... not my favourite. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(Bottle, 0.33 l, at Gallows Bird, 20130125) The beer poured black. Its head was small and lightly brown. Aroma had wood, vineousness, malts and alcohol. Palate was full bodied and dry with low carbonation. Flavours were roasted malts, vanilla, vineousness, sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, roasty and bitter. The wood was too strong but otherwise a decent beer.

330ml bottle @ Gallows Bird, Espoo

Pours pitch black with small brown head. Aroma of strong roasty notes, hints of ripe fruits, vanilla, bourbon, wood and coffee. Taste is roasty with some notes of bourbon, vanilla and oak. Feels quite sweet but not that heavy. Finish is roasty and sweetish with some malty notes and hints of vanilla and oak. Okay, not your typical barrel aged IS.

Brilliant smell. Getting lots of soft bourbon, keeps giving. Making my eyes water a little as Iím inhaling so much. Bit like in Domís car, only the smell is more than marginally preferable. Not sure what they were on about either, Iíve not mentioned any dinosaurs, think it was only Andy though, not Marc - he didnít seem to know either. mm... smooth, thick, full, not too much booze... sweet, the bourbon aging takes away so much of the classic coffee/choc flavours you get in imp stouts, creating a very different drink. Like a quality stout with a shot of bourbon in but the bourbon has no alcohol. This is interesting, glad itís not 500ml though. Gonna relax now the rating is done.
