Imperial Stouts were originally brewed in the early 19th century for export from Britain to the imperial court of Russia’s Catherine the Great.
The high alcoholic content prevented the beer from freezing in transport in the Baltic Sea. Our Imperial Stout has a rich, malty sweetness, notes of dried fruits & a robust full body. This brew will improve and develop complexity over time and has an intense flavour which is complex and distinctive.

Bottle. Black beer with a strong light brown head. The aroma is gently roasted, and the flavour is deeply bitter with a fortified and roasted flavour. Overall a nice strong stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle: Thanks MadMitch: Served in a Chouffe glass: Deep dark brown to black pour. Medium sized, slowly changing, dark beige to brown colored foamy head on top of a black colored beer. Aromas of roasted barley malts, leaves, liquorice wood, hints of raisin, coffee, floral roast and hay roast. Flavours of roasted malts, nuts, yeast, some chocolate, some coffee, bitters, roast, some hay toast, light spicy, some toasted leaves and (autumnal) herbs and something light floral... Aftertaste is a mix of hay roast, malt roast, bitters, nutty, light coffee and light spicy. Low carbo, creamy oily mouthfeel, full body and a oily sticky texture. It’s not as black and dark in flavours and aromas as some of the top beers in this style are, but it has an easy touch to it, while it is good roasted and such, but also lighter in alcohol.

UPDATED: AUG 27, 2013 bottled(delirium snifter) I swirled this glass of purple/brown beer for one minute and mostly received chocolate pudding like qualities in the aroma . From this its not really suggesting this will rock my ass-its kinda shy . . To sip on this imperial, I find roasty malt of course .bitter dark chocolate. burnt toast . raisins . sweet toffee too to complement these textures ...Although this beer flirts at you ,it never really delivers . It is for me lacking the complexity that ’makes’ this style fun to drink !
