Sampled on draught at the Railway in Blackheath, London. An copper-coloured beer with a thin white head and an aroma of malt and hops. The taste has a good malt component, overlaid with flavours of orange, grapefruit and pine resin. Good mouthfeel. A very nice APA.

Bottle at home. Pours hazy amber with a thin white head. The first whiff shows that this is one hoppy beer - pine resin galore with an earthiness that reminds me of a patch of nettles on a hot day. The sip has a little sweetness, immediately followed with a massive bitterness. There is a juicy maltiness in the background, but the overwhelming taste is of nettle, wood and resin. As you would guess, a raspingly dry finish. I found it slightly unbalanced, but I suspect the hopheads put there would like this.

Bottle. Bronze/orange, off white frothy head with heavy lacing. Aromas of grapefruit with strong caramel backbone. Immediate grapefruit bitterness, mid palate pine and an earthy, biscuity finish. Good balancing malt background tames a hop forward beer. Slightly over carbonated ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

At just on cool and into a snifter. Brilliant, orange amber on first pour. Hazed on second. Head is a plume of soapy, white suds Piney, resinous, spicy and herbaceous, whole hop nose inches stinging nettles, vine clippings, camphor, sap resin, lemon balm and pandan. Full on aroma for a modest strength ale. Quite piney and dry with a backbone of dusty malts and dried herbs on the palate. Creamy and foamy in feel with a moderate to light body. Camphorous and lasting, peaking bitterness rolls in every sip. Overall hogely resinous with a plump, hoppy aftertaste. Low esters, low fruit restrained to grapefruit notes and little else. Madly sessionable stuff. (50cL, BB 29/09/15, Luckies Liquor)
