US Style pale ale. Very distinctive pale ale that we have hopped continuously throughout the boil.

Cask at CPK, Pimlico on 18th May 2011. Slightly hazy amber with thin partly lacing yellowy-white head. Fruity aroma. Richly hoppy in-mouth - grapefruit and floral hops rounded by a broad and rich mal. As liquid drains, a sharp hop note returns paving the way for a delectable clean hoppy aftertaste. Excellent.

Cask, handpump at The Live & Let Live, Cambridge, 03.06.11 Pours mid amber with a white head leaving a light filminess across the top of the beer. Fruity and with a goodly dose of hops on the nose and soft pithy grapefruit and in the mouth with a juicy refreshing grapefruit bite. A great beer to try alongside the Oakham Scarlet Macaw and whilst I preferred the latter I think that this would be easier to drink a session of, very good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov16 3.9

Cask at the Lyric. Deepish amber colour, thin head. An aggressively hoppy ale. Pine and grapefruit citrus, bitter, long finish. The malts are just enough to hold it, but still a hop forward beer. Holds a lot of flavour for the abv, which is to be applauded, and this is very refreshing and moreish. A very good effort.

On tap @Mad for Beer (Rome). Light amber, a bit unclear, with a medium off white foam. Aroma is grapefruit, lemon and peach, some pine and floral notes. Flavour is well balanced, medium to heavy bitterness, dry and clean, easy to drink, a perfect US pale ale with an english touch (that is, elegance!). Low body, medium carbonation. I could drink it all night!

Pretty yeasty – wee bit like La Chouffe, say, in colour and clarity - but thoroughly West Coast/transatlantic in flavour. Nose: Really pleasant orange/peach/melon, slight pine. Body: easy-drinking, orange/caramel/peachy, Finish: a hop kick at end and (med-?)long finish. Overall: Nicely American, nicely mild APA; altogether now: #All the lad(d)ies / Who love “Independence” / Throw ya handz up at meee… #
