On tap @ the Stockbridge Tap. Pours a lovely creamy opaque black with a creamy head but there’s a certain weightiness with this as you swirl it round the glass. The nose is chocolate as expected but with a real fruity thing too - probably oranges or raisins. The fruit n nut bar thing continues on the taste and the palate is very well balanced indeed - I can’t believe it’s only 4 or 5%. Overall, great beer.

Bottle. Black with a large gorgeous foamy head. Malty, latte, some sweet vanilla and a faint taste of old fireplaces. Gets better as it loses the intial carbonation fizz and warms up. This is a great Sunday morning beer.

500ml bottle. Almost completely opaque with a slight ruby tinge and a small, very dark head. Aroma of toast and coffee. Coffee flavours with a little smoke. Burnt caramel and plenty of malt. This has a real treacle sweetness which is tempered by a decent amount of bitterness, though the overall flavour may be just a touch too sweet.
