Bottle at Bruce’s, London. Pours deep brown with a tight, creamy tan head. Basic dark malt nose, hints of ripe fruits burnt bread, light cocoa. Light sweet flavor, simple chalky cocoa, soft roast, light earth. Light bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Light dryness to finish, a bit more dry cocoa, low bitterness. Drinkable stout.

Bottle 500ml. @ ChrisO Snow Tasting.

Clear medium brown colour with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing to lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, chocolate, sweet malt. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter with a long duration, sugary, dark malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20130120]

UPDATED: MAR 20, 2013 Bottle. Very dark brown, average and mostly lasting light brown head. Moderate, malty - some oat and sweetish aroma, some roasted malt with some chocolate and light berry fruitiness with vinous notes. Body is medium, malty - light oat and sweetish flavor, some roasted malt and some chocolate with light berry fruitiness. Finish is average, malty - light oat and sweetish, some roasted malt, light chocolate/coffee, light berry fruitiness, faint hoppyness. Sweetish stout with roasted malt - too sweet for me. Nice head, though.

500ml bottle (Snow@ChrisO)
Passable roasty aroma. Looks great - black and with a hige tight tan head. The body’s a little stodgy. There’s an OK roast, but it’s not so interesting. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with this, but I’m just not getting excited by anything apart from how it looks.

Bottle at home, from BBF online - last of my 12 stout of Xmas (I think), 14/02/13. Mid black with a medium sized frothy tan head that retains pretty well. Nose carries roast malt, barley, dark fruits, a little sugar, woody notes. Taste comprises dark fruits, berry fruits, sugars, roast malt, subtle port/red wine tones - but perhaps I only pick these up because of the name on the label !? Medium bodied, a little over carbonated in a prickly way - as much of this series has been apart from the 7/8% ones - dryish in the finish. Ok drinkable stout - no showstopper though!

Bottle at ChrisO Snow tasting. It pours very dark brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is dark fruit, roasted malt, wood, leather and berry. The taste is dark fruit, berry, plum skin, roasted malt, cocoa, ash, charcoal and light tar with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Fairly well balanced. Good stuff.

Bottled (from Ales By Mail). Quite much black colour, mediumsized brown foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, some mild nutty notes as well as fruits and mild herbal notes. Flavour is dry fruityness, mild nutty and chocolaty notes as well as mild toasted notes. Quite balanced, but a bit thin as for the palate.

Bottle as part of the Twelve Stouts of Christmas. Almost black with a tight, tan head. Aroma of roasted malts and chocolate, with a touch of sweet red grape. Flavour had more plain chocolate, toasted grains and a lingering, dryish finish with a hint of port. Very good.

Number 6 of the 12 stouts of christmas. Bottle at home. black with caramel tones, beige / head that persists well. Aroma is pretty neutral, though some roast malt / coffee comes through. Nice rounded roast / toast character and a nice depth of red berries like cranberrues that comes from the port. The beer is carbonated more than expected for the style, which helps to dry out the finish. Little chalky in the finish as well.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2013 Expectation for this beer was a rich vinous stout. The initial aroma is of berries but is quite tame. Its quite carbonated with a medium body and a thick sugar puff like head. The flavour is sour and not as vinous as expected. I was hoping for the rich, oilyness of an imperial stout but thats just my perception pre drinking. A nice beer. 10 more 12 Stouts to go.
