2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark ruby bright red. Aroma is malty and some dark fruit. Taste is sweetish malt and some underlying hops, malts are the star here though. Good body. Some alcohol. OK but wouldn’t write a letter.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500 ml bottle conditioned, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops, notes of red berries and citrus, some malts in the background. The flavour is hoppy and fruity throughout, but the bittering hops are fairly moderate. Still a nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Also notes of lightly toasted malts, hints of caramel and burnt bread crumbs. A well balanced and very tasty beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at Evening Star, Brighton. It pours clear red-amber with a thick beige head. The nose is earthy, wood, resin, red berry, resinous and light barnyard. The taste is earthy, pine, red berry, good bitterness, leaf and resin with a dry, bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. As "red ale"s go this is top notch.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Aroma: Wood, caramel, furniture polish, lime and a very faint chocolate note.
Appearance: Murky mahogany body with a thin beige head that holds well. Light lacing marks
Taste: Similar to the aroma - sweet toffee, nuts, biscuit and wood with lots of bittering hops that provide a sharp fruity tang. A bit rough around the edges.
Palate: Medium body with an oily texture. Prickly carbonation.
Overall: A solid Amber Ale without being particularly exciting.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Brown with an almost crimson hue. Thin head. Lovely waft of blackcurrants and raspberries and a bit of maltiness, Taste is malty with berry fruits, but with a strong bitter finish from some nice hops - not too dry though. Slightly let down by a fizzy carbonation - if it was a little thicker and smoother then this would be ace.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
50cl bottle. Deep copper with big off white head and plenty of lacing. Aroma gives lots of caramel, some pine resin, nuts, a touch of grapefruit, woody notes. Taste is caramel driven, with some fairly astringent pine, bit of grapefruit, more herbal/woody notes. Quite a bitter bite to it. Caramel character never gets too sweet thankfully. Akin to a rougher, more powerful 5am Saint - pretty good.
