Bottled (from AbM). Deep amber (close to copper) colour with a small bubbly head. Aroma is berries, some floral and grassy notes along with some mild caramel malts and also some wood. Flavour is mild wood, floral, berries, grassy and mild toasted notes. As it warms up it gets slightly metallic notes in the flavour as well. Not your typical "brilliance" in BBF beers.

Euston Tap. Lightly hazy amber beer. Tiny suddy white head. Light palate, semi dry. Something of a fresh air beer - mild malt, a little apples. Very mild orange hop. Dry finish. Dull, ephemeral and a bit green. Very disappointing!

50cl bottle from The Bottle Shop, Canterbury. Hazy deep red brown with a thick lasting beige head. Piney hoppy aroma. Some malts in the mouth, then a big whack of piney hop on finish. Itís decent enough and kept compnay with my lunch. Typical interpretation of an american amber. Yes, itís pretty good and a style I very much like. Some sweetness. Yes pretty good.

Cask at the Euston Tap, London. Pours clear amber with a foamy, white head. Toasty malt nose with notes of dirt. Medium sweet flavor, some toasty dough, dirt, earth, mild diacetyl notes, light-moderate bitterness. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light to mediums sweet finish with some toasted grass, toasty malts, some nuts, mild dried cranberries. Meh, doesnít do much for me.

Cask conditioned air dispense Euston Tap London 17/07/12. A dark brown coloured beer with a russet hue and an off-white head and lacing. Fruity sweet and hoppy in the nose. Crystal malt amidst the hops. A big body from those malts together with decent malts in the mouth. A typical Amber ale which is a bit too sweet.

Bottle conditioned. This US red-amber thing: I donít really get it, whatever it is. Bitter without balance. Murky chestnut with a slim white cap. Aroma of liquorice, Hovis biscuits spread with strawberry jam; light sulphur, red shiny apple. Hoppy but not balanced; red apple and red berry fruit dominated by tonic water, back of the throat bitterness. Good floral and biscuit aromas. Good malt overwhelmed. OK.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Cask-conditioned at No1 Harbourside, Bristol. Ruby red with a decent white head. Aroma of red berries, mandarins and pine with a touch of marzipan sweetness. Flavour had more fruit, a solid malt base and dry, lingering, resinous finish. Enjoyable.
