Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. A very dark red-brown, almost black beer with sweet blackcurrant, plum and currant flavours, liquorice notes and a roasted bitter finish. Excellent.

500ml, bottle conditioned. Excellent aroma of fresh hops with an underlying caramel sweetness. This follows through in terms of flavour but with the addition of a little bit of cough syrup. Medium sweet and medium bitter. An excellent and refreshing beer.

50cl bottle, bbe 13/09/13. Dark mahogany, thick beige head. Aroma is perfect, exotic fruits, pine and herbal notes. Strong malty body, with piney hops kicking in later. Bitter finish, quite short. Medium body. Very veery tasty.

The picture of health in the glass. Settles a tawny, deep chestnut and radiant before the yeast goes in. Well conditioned with fine carbonation and a lofty, creamy off-white foam that holds and weaves a spotty lace. Resinous and herbaceous hops dominate the nose; fresh and bright. A little nutty praline, creaming soda and timber varnish resides underneath. Creamy and full on the palate. Meaty, chewy malts and rough and rugged hops give it plenty of oomph. It is dry in the back with a nut-husk/pine-needle, dusty finish. Long and residually hoppy, herbal and rough with a pleasant, peaking bitterness that yields a little bitter orange peel. Lapped by citrus, but more of dried peel than fruit esters, it sits in well with the hefty malt profile. Nutty, woody, raw pine, saw-dust, grain husks, light biscuit and wheat ears - has it all in weirdly extravagant measures. It is quenching, refreshing and amazingly balanced for an ale of such assertive flavours. Goes down oh so easily. Great stuff. One to fill a fridge with for summer! 500 ml bottle conditioned, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 5.5%. Deep reddish brown colour, moderate off-white head. Lovely aroma of fruity hops, notes of red berries and citrus, some malts in the background. The flavour is hoppy and fruity throughout, but the bittering hops are fairly moderate. Still a nice bitterness in the aftertaste. Also notes of lightly toasted malts, hints of caramel and burnt bread crumbs. A well balanced and very tasty beer.

Pretty good beer that grew on me as initial impression was piney chestnut flavored malt but eventually the citrus came through. I like how they mixed the german malts with a strong hop presence. Most American ambers are rubbish and I speak from experience.

Bottle. Dark bronze with a small head. Unusual combination of hops with a background maltiness. Reminded me of a cross between an IPA and a brown ale. Another nice one from this brewery.
