COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bristol Brewing Company proudly announce the graduation of Edge City IPA to six packs and confer upon it the name of Bristol’s Compass IPA! This is an ale with zip. Our IPA brings together copious amounts of Columbus, Chinook and Cascade hops in a tasty combination that lingers through the finish and beyond. Big hop flavor with malt in a nice supporting role.

Draft @ taproom. Bright amber. The nitro has a typical head. Lots of c-hops in the aroma. Quite typical of the style overall. Nitro gives it a soft palate. The malts are not the most exciting around, sort of a crystal malt overload but overall well-made. Of course, better without the nitro pour because the non-nitro, more regularly carbonated palate allows the flavors to develop better.

UPDATED: OCT 6, 2009 Bomber. Pours a slight chill hazy copper with a nice head that lasts a while. Aroma is sharp citrusy with pine notes, and some light doughy cracker malts. Pine and orange peel-type hops, almost a harsh resinous character in the flavor but has a crisp pleasant bitterness at first- gets a bit tacky as you drink more but nice.

UPDATED: MAR 8, 2010 (12oz bottle thanks to Cavie, re-rate via Bman1113VR) Pours a clear yellow-orange with oily head. Nose is grapefruit, sweet bread, rum, caramel and raisin. Taste is lightly bitter hops, sweet caramel, undercarbonated, but a medium body. The palette is oily slick.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2012 Had this on nitro at the brewery (great folks). Opaque burnt orange with a solid foam top. Brutal hop flower aroma. Smooth and sweet at first, with the hop burst at the finish.

Bottle: Amberish in color, on the orange side, slightly hazy, large foamy off-white head, fairly sticky lacing.   Pale citrus rind nose.   Perhaps a slight dash of pine.   Smooth pine and citrus rind on the tongue.   Minor astringency.   Tastes a bit better than the aroma.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Drinks like a fairly standard IPA.   Not a lot of floral or hop bitterness, or should I say the bitterness reminds me of an orange rind.   Decent, but wished it was a bit more floral and bright, instead of citrus rind bitterness with a dash of astringency.   Average.

Bottle. Pours orange with a slightly off white head. Flowery and earthy hops, a little bit of harsh astringency, and sweet toffee malts. A little rough around the edges.

This draft brew from a motel on nitro poured a extremely large sized head of foamy finely sized off-white colored bubbles that were and left behind a uncarbonated dark orange colored body. The mild aroma was hoppy and floral. The thick flat flavor contained notes of mild hops. Not one that I would likely buy again as the nitro just kills it.

First sample from a trade with BeerandBlues2. Fits in with the IPAs I had in Portland and those I brought back. Thick lacing spackled on the glass above a lasting white head. Beer is coloured an orange-amber. Interesting hop, malt and spice aroma. Creamy mouth feel. Good blend of hops and malt comes across nicely. One of a very few strongly hopped IPAs that seems to lean more toward the malt.

GABF 2006: Amber color with a small off-white head. Diacetyl aroma covered up most else for me. Some malt underneath. Malty caramel flavor with a nice mix of citrus. Moderately bitter finish help to redeem the beer.
