COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Three Bristol Craft Breweries have come together to brew a very special beer for this year’s Bristol Beer Festival. The “Bristol Craft Brewer’s” are Jon Comer from Arbor Ales, Chris Kay and Brett Ellis from the Bristol Beer Factory and Chris Thurgeson from Zero Degrees. The beer will simply be known as “Collaboration”, and is the amalgamation of several styles of beer. Arbor Ales Jon Comer says “we are calling it a ‘New World Tripel’ a combination of Belgian & American styles”. "Collaboration” is based on a classic Belgian style, strong golden ale but given a twist. It is being brewed with ingredients gathered from all over the world, a homage to a time when Bristol was one of the trading capitals of the world. The beer brings together styles of beer from England, Belgium & the US, and ingredients from all over the World, English malted barley, Belgian yeast and hops from America and New Zealand, toasted (toasted in Zero Degrees pizza oven) oats & coriander.

Cask at CPK. Pours a rich gold with a soft, white head. Sweaty malts on the nose, hints of ripe fruits, maybe caramel. Rich flavor, though not in all good ways. Good dose of bready malts, some boozy fruit, slight earthy bitterness. Full in body with fine carbonation. Medium warm finish, some woody malts, dry fruits, slight alcohol, subtle grass and earth. OK, but nothing special.

Cask via handpump, at CASK Pub & Kitchen on 21st May 2011. Clear amber with very little head. Fairly sweet but pleasantly so, richly malty with soft fruit notes in-mouth. Liquid is introduced with a blackcurrant kick. A little yeast in aroma, lemon-citric finish, but this remains rounded by the maltiness of the beer. A rather pleasant, smooth mouthfeel.

bottle. Deep gold with small white head. Floral citrus aroma with light phenolics. Slightly biscuity malt aroma. Sweet, but with dry finish. Pronounced american hop flavour. Noticeable alcohol warmth. A decent beer, but too hoppy and not high gravity enough to really pass it of as a tripel. More fitting as a BELGO-IPA.

Cask air pressure at Euston Tap. Clear pale brown with cream head. Overly perfumed. That is pretty shocking to be honest. Style fail. Some rose petal fruit touch of esters. But frankly this is rubbish. Yikes.

Kegged version at the Three Tuns, Bristol 19/03/2011. Deep gold with a tight white head. Aroma of coriander, honey and spicy malts. Sweetish, caramel flavour, with plenty more green herbs, oranges and some citrus hops, leading to a dryish finish. A bit to much coriander, but an interesting beer nonetheless.
