Commercial Description:
The first in our line of slightly more serious, limited-run beers, this crisp IPA brings together Columbus, Chinook and Cascade hops in a tasty combination that lingers through the finish and beyond. Bristol's Edge City Series. Slightly more serious, always worth savoring.

Objectively speaking: An drop in the sea of American IPAs.
I like: Sedimented golden. Nice foam. Tropical notions. Bready pale malts, not too much crystals.
I dislike: Atrocious label. Strong citric bitterness blend with yeastiness. Simplicity. Rough edges.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with snowtiger (thanks!). Poured a dark and hazy amber color with a smaller sized off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, oranges, and light flowers. Tastes of grapefruit, oranges, grass and caramel. Has a nice sweet and bitter balance.

My Bottom Line:
Citrusy hoppiness morphs into a wooden, leafy bitterness in this relatively yeasty and straightforward American IPA example.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam skirts the murky beige.
-The end bitterness is raw and biting.
-The malt profile is not enticing enough to create interest and its lean body is barely sturdy enough to support the blatant hopping.
-The fruity hop profile is interesting, spanning from grapefruit juice to orange zest, but the last half of the sip is not as satisfying as the first.

Bottle.

FOBAB 2004, there called Edge City Old World IPA, "English IPA dry-hopped and aged in English oak." It poured a hazy copper color with a foamy off-white head. The aroma was predominantly of floral hops and a bit of smokiness, prhaps from the aging. It’s a very tasty IPA with a solid malt backbone and some good floral, citric, and earthy hoppiness. Nice bitter finish.

Draught, Bristol Brewpub, Colorado Springs. Head is mostly lasting. Body is medium amber. Aroma is moderately hoppy (grapefruit, flowers, orange, apricot), lightly malty (cookie, caramel), with a note of peach. Flavor is moderately sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Re-rate on CO2 instead of nitro, and though noticeably better, still not quite my thing.
