COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Laughing Lab has a nourishing maltiness that comes from six specialty malts. Its nutty, roasted flavor is mildly sweet, but not too rich. Smooth and luscious!

Bottle. Deep Amber with a minimal head. Aroma of sweet malt, port and spice. has a smooth mouthfeel, fruity with a dry full flavour. Leaves a full and pleasant aftertaste that hits every part of the mouth

From notes. First reviewed 9/20/2011. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Laughing Lab pours a full amber brown color, mostly transparent except for the darkest parts of the glass, with a small off-white white cap. Caramel malt, some bruised red apple and orchard fruit, toasted grains, and a bit of woodiness all create the aroma. The taste consists of caramel sweetness that sits on top of toasted grains. Muted orchard fruits precede a soft wood flavor and a lightly citric finish. There is a soft creamy feel stemming from a fairly light carbonation. Medium bodied. I thought this was a decent beer, but so far nothing in this style has truly inspired me.

Reddish brown color out of the bottle with very little carbonation evident in the pour. What head there was lay on the surface like that pattern in sand at low tide. The aroma was muted but was malty with hints of chalk. Body seems a little light, but it is a very smooth drink. Sweet malts with something faintly roasty in the background. Not a very complicated flavor palate. The finish just fades away, leaving nothing particular by which to remember it.

Pours a slightly hazed brown with a vanishing head. The aroma is extremely malty, a little earthy with a touch of black tea. Very sweet and malty. No actual hop aroma or flavor.

not a very full bodied scottish ale. I prefer the scottish fromoskar blues. Very drinkable, but not memorable.

12 oz. bottle into tulip glass. Purchased at some grocery store in Brookfield, WI sometime in 2004. Smells like resiny hops: somewhat acidic, like Pine Sol Lite, musty pine needles. Red amber in the glass with a slight trace of off-white head. Full bodied for a scottish ale; cherry and butterscotch flavors with a tinge of hoppy acridity; coats the mouth, slightly syrupy but not sickly sweet or thick; a bit of bitter hops are all I get on an understated finish. Not bad; but not great either.

12oz bottle labeled bottled in Jul. Poured a darker amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of peat, bread, light smoke and light caramel. Tastes of caramel, nuts, lightly roasted malts, and had a lighter earthiness to it. Tastes on the weaker side compared to the aromas (somewhat of a let down). Lacing left on the glass.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a pleasant light tan head, over a clear body.....nose primarily light malts....tastes almost entirely of malt layers, with a bit of bitter towards the finish, pleasant, not really sweet, not complex, mouthfeel light to medium. Lack of complexity in the malt back bone is its weakness.
