3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Fort Collins Brew Fest 2003: Fairly hazy. Citrus aroma, definitely of Cascade hops, the taste, too. This was nice and refreshing during a nice hot Colorado summer day.

Tap. Orange with white head. Smells caramelly. Tastes piney, caramel, long bitter finish. Pretty good.

Typical American hop aroma, reasonable malty body. Well balanced, easy drinking session APA. Certainly nothing special.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
This was my most dissappointing beer of this Sampler Pack. Maybe I drank a bad bottle but this doesn’t rate high for me. Rather bland and too bready for my palate. Disappointing.

2.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Nice piney, floral nose over a thin off white head with little retention and no lacing. Nice amber/brown colr with very slight haze. Flavor is pine resin with mild bitterness that lingers. American hops (Cascade and Liberty?) evident. Lacks individuality and hop character. May be a bit old.

copper pour from a 12oz bottle, the last several reviewers describe it perfectly, miminal head, little lacing, hoppy aroma and malty body with a decent bitterness and medium cabronation. In other words, a good american pale ale.

2.7 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
One of my early BA reviews.
A pale orange color with a slight haze. Bubbles rise quickly and constantly to the surface, but there is no significant head.
The smell of the glass itself seems stronger than the beer, unless the beer smells like glass. Slightly dry with a subtle bitterness. Nothing notable in terms of fruity or piney smells. Malt seems to dominate.
Dry and bitter. Malt dominates, with only (slightly lemony) bitterness giving any indication that hops were used at all. The finish is almost entirely pale malt flavor. Kind of like what you’d expect from a bottle if it were just labeled "Beer."
Medium body, but possibly just very very carbonated. Prickly in a way.
About average. It won’t kick your tastebuds much, but it could be good with a burger or something. If you’re only drinking beer, you’ll probably get bored of the flavor unless it’s being used primarily as a social lubricant.

Out of the bottle--looks nice in an ale glass; medium coppper with a decent head. Whee! That first sniff packs a nice wallop of tastes to come. Seems slightly watery at first but the Cascade hopping fills in nicely. It would be mighty easy to put a lot of these away on a hot day...

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured with no head and little carbonation. I’m wondering if I got a bad bottle. This tasted very metallic on the front end and had a lingering, roasted malt aftertaste, with little hop flavor at all. I had expected a big hop flavor, because many of the Colorado brewers are extreme-hopping even their pales. I’m fine that there wasn’t a lot of hop to this--it’s more in keeping with the pale ale style. But it’s the watery, metallic taste that is ultimately dissatisfying.
