12oz bottle seemingly bottled in the 5th week of October. Smooth milk chocolate base in the aroma with sooty coffee on top. Tons of milk chocolate in the flavor - it has some oily black malt on the edges and some molasses cookie but yeah mostly tasty chocolate. Appropriate mouthfeel for the flavors (i.e. thickish and low carbonation). This comes pretty close to what I’d like a sweet stout to taste like, lots of sweet chocolate flavors. It has sort of an oilyness about it that detracts, but that’s about it.

pours a dark color w/ a very thin tan head. smells strongly of coffe, roasted malts & raisens. palate is rich and a little creamy w/ a hint of carbonation. Flavor is syruppy w/ hints of raisens, semisweet chocolate, and light coffee. Overall a pretty solid beer but didn’t contain the creamy oatmeal element I expected from an oatmeal stout.. but a good beer anyway... Thanks to JPDipso for this one.

Pours a very dark brown, small tan head. Aroma of strong coffee, oats, and roasted malts. Flavor is thick and syrupy, with above mentioned and more coffee to it. Palate is slick. Thanks to JPDipso for this one!

bottle-purchased at Davidson liquors in Littleton, CO-I brought this beer to a party and drank 4/6 of the bottles. I kept 2 for rating purposes-pours pitch black with small tan head. Sweet, baking chocolate aroma with notes of roasted cappuchino. Some hops in the finish. Mostly sweet coffee flavors that were not huge, but definately there. A tad thin on the body keeps this one back from being a premier oatmeal stout. However, it did make for a great session stout!

Slight rating tweak based on a reexamination of the 2005 batch. Not much changes, though... Pours moderately thick and is opaque in the snifter with a deep tan head. Smells of molasses, milk chocolate, oats, chocolate chips, orange peel and mild cloves. Flavor evolves with a rich milk chocolate profile that teeters closely to the burnt end of toasted but a more lactic attitude prevails in the end. The beer guy at Brennans was right on the money when he said that it’s "almost thick enough to chew." Very full and rich. Gets more robust as I near the end, with a wonderful malt complexity. Definitely leaves its mark, with the head trailing off and clinging to the sides of my glass like dirty snow sticks to a windshield. Finish is mouth watering and smoky, leaving an aftertaste similar to a mild island coffee roast with a slight bitter edge. If you get the chance, drink this beer.

It is/was a cold night in the Colorado mountains and my local had it on draft. We shared a pitcher. Dark it is and it has a nice head in both pitcher and glass. Reasonably typical flavours of the oatmeal stout type with a nice heavish feel in the mouth.

Very dark brown color, not much head. Light roasty aroma. Medium body, eh. Fruity, raisins up front. Gets roasty and chocolaty in the finish, not too bad except for a slight sour taste that just doesn’t sit quite right. A solid effort, good beer. ReRate, 11-05. Nice smooth mouthfeel, palate has cherries, vanilla, chocolate. Nice!

here’s a sweet little cupcake in a glass: sweet, chocolatey, and fun-- not hugely substansial but satisfying. tip the glass and look into the dark liquid as it goes from espresso-umber through tobacco browns and mars reds and finally onto a pastel dijon yellow at the thinest edge: yep, it’s as pretty as the st. pauli girl. alas, a brief head popped like a flash bulb but then failed utterly. strange aroma of chocolate oatmeal and a note of marijuana brownie--that is, a minty herbal odor co-mingles with the fudge, i got buttered toast as well. flavor, again, is quaker oats and cocoa, plus a bit of coffee, stove-top scorch, and pleasant, albiet uncomplicated hazelnut-pumpernickel malts. it achieves a medium bodied feel, lots of nourishing oaty sweetness, with moderate bitterness.
