BierBauch (638), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA May 19, 2004 12oz Bottle Pours black of course with very little head as expected. Aroma is of roasted malt, licorice and some sweet dark chocolate as well. Body is smooth with more carbonation than expected. The flavor is somewhat complex. Slightly bitter with notes of licorice, chocolate, coffee and a bit milky. Overall not bad for the style. Thanks to Snowtiger for the sample. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Mar 26, 2004 Pours a nice darkness with a thick, well-lacing light tan head. Semi-sweet and dry roasted malt aroma. Body starts with a nice thickness and plenty of caramel malt flavor and a more roasty lactic finish. Nicely balanced and a good fullness of flavor. A very nice sweet stout. Thanks snowtiger! fuyajo (225), Portland, Oregon, USA Mar 22, 2004 Carmel aroma. Rich, dark-brown color - almost syrupy looking. Small head. Hints of carmel and sweetness for taste; a very drinkable Stout. Smooth finish with a slighly bitter aftertaste - a tinge of coffee, perhaps. This could be one of my new favorite Stouts. I will buy this one again. jdog76 (85), madison, Wisconsin, USA Feb 20, 2004 Updated: Feb 23, 2004This was my first Oatmeal stout and I really liked it. It had a bit of a sweet flavor. with a chocolate brown head. nice beer. beeriodic (61), Longmont, Colorado, USA Feb 5, 2004 Poured with little head, brownish. Looks like Pepsi in the glass, dark brown and effervescent. Malty, slightly fruity aroma. Palate is a bit too bubbly for me, and thinnish. Sorta sweet finish, with a slight astringency from the roasted/ black malts. ot as smooth as I like in an O.S. aracauna (2357), Georgia, USA Jan 25, 2004 Darker brown, but not quite black. The head is light tan, creamy but not too large. The aroma is smokey chocolate, with some mild fruitiness and a bit of hops reaching through the malt. The flavor is a bit soda like, but I can't say why, interesting, but a bit thin. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Jan 17, 2004 Deep brown with reddish highlights. Small creamt tan head and fair lacing. Aroma hints of blueberry, apple, plums, burnt and smoky dark malts, bittersweet chocolates, floral hops and oatmeal. The taste has a twang and bite. It's smoky and bitter upon the layers of sweet undertones. Additional coffee and fruity tones detected. A slight spicy nature upon the finish. Complex, but not fully integrated. The mouthfeel is firm enough but the finish is too short. Good and drinkable stout, just comes up a tad short everywhere. Worth a try. BückDich (4785), McCall, Idaho, USA Dec 31, 2003 Black color with creamy head that dissipates eventually. No lacing. The aroma is very dry and sweet, lots of chocolate and light coffee smells. Flavor is pretty sweet, slightly salty, lightly hoppy. Finishes dry with a medium body.
