Glouglouburp (2782), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jan 15, 2008 In short: A very very smooth oatmeal stout. Round, mellow and satisfying
How: 12oz bottle from BeerandBlues2, thanks a lot Brad!
The look: Black body with a small tan head
In long: Creamy body with lots of soft bubbles, as close as a bottle can get from feeling like a nitro tap. Smooth roastiness, very much oatmeal, some milk chocolate, some tobacco, a little lactic and with a touch of smoke. Some citrusy notes in the finish makes it feel a bit juicy. A well put together oatmeal stout that stands out for being very round and smooth. If all warlocks were that soft and mellow the worst curse spell would be “may you break shoe lace”. JaffaHawk23 (38), Broomfield(via Iowa City), Colorado, USA Jan 9, 2008 I read where someone says it smells of gingerbread. It smells and tastes of slightly burnt gingerbread. Much to my liking . The head is thin but the lacing is nice. Not too thick for a stout. One of the best beers I’ve had in a while. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Jan 4, 2008 12 oz bottle from BeerAnd Blues2. Ashen malt in the nose, slight smoke. Fairly black pour, rather flat, with little head. Very nice. Well balanced roasted malt flavor, good combo with the base makes for a nice quaffer. Slight bitterness at the swallow. A great stout. Thanks Brad! Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jan 3, 2008 12 oz bottle from BeerAnd Blues2. Thanks! Bottled the first week of October. Black with a thin beige head. Baking chocolate, coffee and a bit of tobacco in the nose. Nice, full, smooth body. Somewhat sweet flavor, rich, sweet chocolate and light coffee, some mocha notes. Really a nice sipper, particularly on this cold winter night. packmatt (3), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA does not count Dec 30, 2007 I absolutely love winter Warlock, it is especially good when you get it at the brewery or a local restaurant on nitrous, drinks a lot easier, and won’t leave you full. A lot like a guinness. coldbrewky (716), Saugerties, New York, USA Dec 2, 2007 A medium bodied brew that does not hint at the 6.5% seems more like 4%. Nice A pleasant smmoth bodied. oatmeal stout that iscreamy tillthe finish and then it thinsout a bit for a slight hop bite. Thanks again to beerandbluesfor this. scottmc (167), Lakewood, Colorado, USA Nov 30, 2007 Bottle. Hints of oatmeal and burnt toast. A dry aftertaste, mild body with oak finish. Not too bad for a winter stout. BlackForestCO (819), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Nov 20, 2007 Updated: Jul 27, 2008Poured from a bottle. Poured a deep brown color with a moderate tan head that diminished to a ring. Aroma of roasted malts, oats, and chocolate. Roasted malts with hints of chocolate and coffee and well as a oaty presence. Creamy and smooth. A nice beer to enjoy with the incoming cold weather.
