jbrus (4024), Delft, Netherlands Apr 3, 2008 Bottle@Home. Vanilla, port, iodine and soysauce aroma. Opague, light brown head thatd diminishes fast but not completely, few lace. Starts very complex, full and flavorful. Then loads of sugary sweetness and fruits like plum, cherry, figues and raspberry with moccha underneath. After a short while it finally explodes in your mouth and throat but not as alcoholic as you would expect from a 18.4% ABV beer. Very flavorful, not really an Imperial Stout to me though, sharing 1 bottle is enough I guess. Thanks kepano for sharing this with me!
Ibrew2or3 (1596), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 17, 2008 Huge thanks to tpd975 for opening this rare gem. Pours dark darkness with thin dark brown that quickly vanished. The aroma is inviting with caramel, vanilla and rich ripe dark fruity esters of sweet Concord grape jam, plums and ripe cherries. A bigger draw begins to pick up the alcohol heat. The mouth feel is chewy fudgy slushy and sludgy sugar sticky sugar malts. I get notes from the nose showing up in the flavor such as vanilla, caramel, molasses, toffee along with faint notes of dark chocolate. The taste does have a solid alcohol warming sensation but well within reason for the gynormous ABV. This was very nice. fishingnet (711), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 24, 2008 Bottle brewed 2003 bottled 2006 courtesy tpd975. Thanks Greg for such a rare treat. Aroma is boozy with caramel, vanilla, and every type of sugar you could imagine. Taste is sweet toffee and caramel with dark fruit, alcohol, vanilla, and more sugar. Full mouthfeel with a strong but smooth amount of alcohol. Very good. The_Epeeist (885), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 22, 2008 12 oz bottle. Brewed 9/03, bottled 6/06. Dark brown with some beige foam around the edges. Nose is dark chocolate cake, molasses and toffee. Almost medium body but thinner than expected. A tingle but mostly alcohol. Taste is bittersweet chocolate and soy with hints of maple, vanilla, honey and grilled grapefruit. A big beer but not a beast. arrogantb (20), Denver, Colorado, USA Jun 9, 2008 Serving type: bottle

I shared a 12 oz bottle with a friend. This stout was black but not as dark as most. The smell was nice and inviting. The mouthfeel was prickly from the carbonation and alcohol. It felt weird. The taste was strange as it began stout-like and then I tasted the molasses and the honey. The drinkability is not high given the ABV. I’m glad I got to try this one but compared to the 2003 WWS I also had that night it fell short.
GreatLibations (1240), Sasquatcho, Arizona, USA Jun 5, 2008 As I unwrapped the foil on top I actually found myself looking for the last Wonka prize winner. This bottle was brewed on 9-25-03 and was bottled on 6-9-06. Pours dark with a dead head. It’s very fizzy and dies as fast as it pours. No lacing to speak of. The aroma smells like very sweet molasses, frosted flakes cereal, honey, and burnt rubber. Light to medium nectar with good residual carbonation. OMG! This is one very strong brew. Candy sweet upfront with a bit of souring. No roast to speak of. Flavors of aged nectarine pulp, Worcestershire sauce, brandy, and toffee. The honey component is very evident with it’s classic musty character. This stuff is very warming after just a few sips. It actually tastes better after a bit of sipping. My ears are starting to get warm. The flavors stick to my palate like a loogie on a brick wall. The finish is strong and lasting. Well, this is very interesting. Strong flavors but balanced nicely considering.
