rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, - MAY 29, 2003
Bottle conditioned. Pale gold, good white head and moderate condition. Big fluffy yeast sediment. Initial aroma is worryingly sulphurous but this almost dissapears in the mouth. Good mix of sweet malt and hop flavours with a creamy vanilla note lurking and a distant egginess. Aftertaste develops a good level of hop bitterness. Ignore the aroma (if possible) and you will find a surprisingly pleasant and refreshing pale bitter.
