3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Hazy orange color, decent creamy white head. Nose is kind of papery, oat-like. Flavor has light sweet edge in the beginning. beer is grassy and bitterish. Interesting French beer, not really typical biere de garde, more like a Belgian blonde.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Optimal head of longest persistence. Beautiful blond color much fraught and full, lightly orange with good fizzy aspect. Fresh and prickly aroma with notes of macerated clear grape, lemon and plum. A lot lively and with elevated alcoholic perception. Much sour and acidulous taste. Sweetish final with stum notes.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
33cl bottle from a six-pack of Breton beers at Carrefour. As cloudy as their Blanche; yeasty aroma, but not as dominant as the Blanche; sweet malty taste with a touch of herbs. Creamy and easy to drink with a smoky finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
This is much more like it. Sweet, slightly woody, pineapple-fruity nose. There’s some hops there, too.Completely unlike any ’Biere de Garde’ I’ve tasted to date. Bright hazy yellow pour with a frothy-headed spritziness. Appetisingly spicy, with a sprinkle of something I can’t quite place. But it’s distinctively Belgian and probably coriander- used sparingly. Exceptionally lacy and creamily full-bodied for the style and ABV. The same subtly smoky afters as the Gwiniz Du. A hell of a lot going on for a 5 percenter. An attractively bitter dryness in the finish. A quenchingly spicy, well-balanced Blonde easily surpassing some of its more esteemed French and Flemish cousins.

Bottled. Cloudy golden coloured, thin lacing. Hoppy aroma. Pretty nice Biere de Garde style beer. Thanks to my friend (Roel) for bringing it from France.

4 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle from Leclerk, Valreas. A pale ale with the clean lines of a lager - beefed up with the yeast in the bottle. This Blonde or Biere de Garde comes over as a flavoursome lager of considerable character and drinkability. Very pleasant. Lager hops lingering in the finish. Malt is clean and very largerish, though with hints of fruit, corriander and funegreek. Most of the flavour and character comes from the hop and the yeast. Low, natural and soft carbonation. A very enjoyable beer.
