Small bottle. Murky rusty brown body with a completely disappearing head - nothing like the beautiful copper beer in the photo. Aroma has yeast and some very faint leathery smoke. Tastes like a bad yeasty Dunkelweizen. Very light smoke in the effervescent finish but it’s already too late to impact the general impression - rather poor.

330ml bottle. Hazy orange color. Medium size, off-white head, stays. Papery, sweet, malty, very mild almost undetectable smoke in aroma. Peat, rubbery, sweet and grainy taste. Nice juicy smoky aftertaste. Slick mouthfeel. I like it.

330 ml bottle. R25/26F3. BB 01/02/15. From saveur-biere.com.
Cloudy mahogany amber colour with a small off-white head. The aroma is sweetish malt, some dryness and moderate smokiness. The flavour is also only moderately smoked (which is nice) and dry malty. Quite nice. Malt and smoke.

Can’t rate this highly because I just don’t enjoy the flavor peat smoke imparts to beer, but at least it’s (relatively, compared to the average Rauchbier at least) more subtle, blending somewhat with caramel malt and a bit of hops. The aftertaste is sadly killer, though, like licking the inside of a lime kiln.

330ml bottle (Koht, Tallinn)
Apple cider aroma - that’s a flaw. Lacticity builds up later. Hazy marmelade, small tight off-white head. Served cold, so a bit thin, and with crisp carbonation. Smokiness initially quite nice, perhaps wet wooly hiking socks. Thinnish. Sweetish malts. Strange minerally slightly vegetabley finish. Reminds me of seaweed, but I can’t explain why, a combination of factors. Later, the milky lacticity turns almost into aby vomit in the finish. Ewwwww. Initially I liked the direction this was aiming in, even though it clearly was a long way from being there, but as I drink more I have less sympathy, and think it’s lost at sea. Started off as a 3 for 2 seconds, stayed at 2.7 forl a while, but by the end of the bottle I was sick of it, and it’s 2.3 at best.
