From a sampler: This beer is nearly black with a medium light brown head. Nice solid lacing. Roasty chocolate aroma. Rich and very creamy with milk chocolate and malt being the predominant flavors. Coffee is also present. The finish is creamy and a little thin. One of Broad Ripples better beers.

heemer77 (4792) - Urbandale, Iowa, USA - APR 19, 2008
On cask at the brewpub. The body was black with a nice khaki head. The aroma was coffee and soybeans. There was also some nice toast. The taste was coffee with some milk chocolate and pancakes. A solid stout, but a little pedestrian.

jahughey (65) - Franklin, Indiana, USA - SEP 15, 2005
Nice balance between drinkability and full flavor. Roasty, bready, clean malt nose. Rich, roasted flavor, hints of toffee and, pardon the rhyme, coffee. Drinkable at the same time. VASTLY superior to the diet porter.

SpudClampDawg (1029) - Jasper, Indiana, USA - AUG 21, 2005
Served a bit cold, but really came to life as it warmed. Rich roasted and coffee character throughout. Slightly sweet middle and somewhat dry finish. Solid example.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2005 From a growler filled two hours earlier, by John Hill, owner of the Broad Ripple Brew Pub. Opaque with a tan head. Coffee and chocolate malts. Strong robust aroma. Coffed flavor with a small amount of chocolate flavor. Nice robust clean feel and roasted flavor. Nice likeable beer. 11/15/2005 at the pub- Nitro push Nitro push gave it a wonderfully tight creamy head. It looked was a text book representation of what a stout looks like. The aroma was nice, but the flavor is really what got me this time. Great roasted malt flavors. Very smooth, creamy, and eveny milkey. Chalkey malt and chocolate are left behind on the palate. It’s slightly hopped and all eventually smooths into a nice roasted full finish. (changed my rating this time)

Tap at the BR, called Wobbly Bob Stout. July 30. Deep black stout with no head. Light roasted malt aroma. Rather watery stout with too much lactic notes. Some hops in finis but not much else.

UPDATED: SEP 24, 2004 Sampled this beer at the Great Taste of the Midwest in Madison WI. Even though my scores on this are accurate and well researched, Da Man wants me to say more about the beer, so I will. Bla, this isn't all that good. Maybe it's just because I am drinking other good beers, but I don't care for this at all.

hotstuff (3249) - Indiana, USA - FEB 3, 2004
Draft sample. This beer had a small sized tan head with fine-medium sized bubbles that completely dissipated. The body was opaque and uncarbonated with a black hue. The nose was malty and also coffee. The flavor was flat, bland, and some coffee. The mouthfeel of this beer was smooth with a watery and thin texture for a stout beer. This beer's lacing was sparse.

thedm (4124) - Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA - FEB 1, 2004
This draft sample poured a small head of brown colored fine to medium sized mostly lasting bubbles that left behind a fair lace. The body was opaque and black in color with no visible carbonation. The aroma was mild with coffee and dark malt notes. The mouth feel was smooth and flat from start to finish. The flavor was mild with malt and coffee notes.
