UPDATED: OCT 27, 2012 Pint at the Loon. 26OC12. Dark brown-black with a small dark tan head. Strong coffee notes, nice dark-roasted malts, slight grapey notes, slightly smokey and ashen, nice. Medium+ body with moderately-low effervescence. Pretty nice dark roasted malts, plenty of coffee, a touch of dark chocolate and grapes, still slightly ashen and smokey, pretty good; dry with some bitterness and a reasonably good roasted malt and grape finish. Not bad at all

Part of a Growler, shared with Billy, served cold in a tulip glass. 24NO11.
App.: Deep brown-black with a tan rim.
Aroma: Strong black coffee, some dark chocolate, a touch fruity, ashen, a touch savoury?, not bad.
Palate: Medium body, nearly still (unfortunately).
Flav.: Black coffee, a bit fruity – more so than the nose – a little mineral and ash, thin on flavour and body, needs more body for style, I think.
Started to feel a bit more substantial once the glass warmed, still not quite there.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 blankboy (5199) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - NOV 27, 2011
Growler. Pours dark brown with a small diminishing frothy tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, good amount of coffee, chocolate and light leafy hops. Slightly watery flavour of roasted malt, coffee, light leafy hops, some lactic notes and an average bitter finish. Average bodied. Pretty good and on style, I enjoyed it.
