Broadhead’s Dark Horse Stout is a full-bodied, rich and creamy oatmeal stout that bristles with bold, unbridled taste. Blending roasted malt and oatmeal for a solid footing, this smooth, dark beer has shades of bitterness that gives Dark Horse the perfect edge.

Smell: toasted malt, oatmeal, cocoa, milk chocolate, a bit unpleasant out of the can but improves after a bit of time. Taste: Low carbonation (a bit flat), sweet coffee. Finish: slight dry chalkiness, not much else. (canned 02/24/16, tasted 04/22/16)

473 mL can. Dark brown, with a thin brown head. Mild aroma is a little nutty, a little roasty. No off flavours. A hint of chocolate, no coffee. Ripe plum, a little roast at the end. The oatmeal produces a nice body. Nice stout.

Can from the LCBO. Opaque dark brown with a one finger quickly fading dark brown head. Nose of dark chocolate, roasted nuts, light espresso, vanilla and a touch of licorice. Medium light bitter chocolate and coffee with a touch of brown sugar sweetness. Mouth is nice and creamy but still manages to feel a little thin, with soft carbonation and a bit of chalk in the finish.

473ml can. Pours a pretty big, thick and creamy tan head and has a dark brown appearance. Sticky lacing. Aromas of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and hints of vanilla. Flavours are very much in the sane vein, the chocolate and coffee is there, vanilla not as much. Some cocoa notes as well. Good retention. Average carbonation. Slick and oily mouthfeel. A bit above average stout.

3 finger head fades to one a moment later. Smells of oatmeal stout, chocolate, roastedness, bitterness & sour(?) Black beer with a creamy head. Only see tiny carbination back of glass. Taste starts off in outh cold and like a soda, then a little watery oatmeal stout, with a bit of chocolate, roastedness, bitterness & maybe sour a tad. Cheer’s!!!
