COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Broadhead’s Grindstone Amber is a tenacious and tasty, rich-coloured amber ale that is hell-bent on hitting the spot. Bolstered by just the right balance of base malts, and finished with a strong but sweet sharpness, Grindstone is not for the laid-back beer drinker.

Growler from the source - Looks and smells like a macro amber, tastes like the upset was in the works, but didn’t pan out.

Crap... this is just an ipa they put food colouring in... instead of nice notes of caramel all i get is citrus flavours and more hops then you can shake a stick at... even the colour is wrong...

473 mL can. Light amber with a head of loose white that laces. Mild and bready malt base with light toffee and spicy-floral hops. Light sweetness, balanced finish. Light body, average plus carbonation. Light on the palate with a slightly sticky finish. Simple, refreshing, well made, just not exciting.

On tap at stoudts irish bar. Pretty bland beer though better than a macro in a pinch.

HopsandBolts (165) - Ontario, CANADA - APR 25, 2015
473 ml can from the LCBO.

Appearance: Pours a deep bronze colour with just over a finger of white head. Retention is short and lots lacing is left behind.

Aroma: Some malt but very faint.

Flavours: Malt, cereal and some grassy notes.

Mouthfeel: A bit thinner mouthfeel with average carbonation.

Overall: The aromas are very faint. The flavour is mainly malt with few other components. Mouthfeel is thinner. An okay beer but not anything great.

Clear amber pour with small off white head. Aroma of malts, grains, slight caramel and faint hops. Taste of caramel malts, grains, faint citrus, hay and faint hops on the finish. Light bodied, medium-high carbonation. Very sessionable but nothing to great.

can. Poured orangey-amber with a big creamy tan head. The aroma is sweet with cereal grains. Medium bodied with a creamyish mouthfeel and carbonation, sticky and tart at the end. Flavour is grainy, some caramel malt, hop presence shows as bitter-tart grapefruit note without the citrus sweetness.

mostly clear amber colour. some hops, light citrus and caramel malts. On the palate it is mildly bitter hoppy with a resinous malty backbone. Has some bite and medium body. I just hate all these lightly hopped pales of Onterrible. boring brew.

Grindstone knows how to entertain with the "Broadhead Business Plan" on the back: build small brewery /brew tasty beer/ sell some/ drink more/grow beards/quit day jobs/hire friends/make rap video... but describing their beer as "not for the laid back drinker" is absolutely wrong, this is very sessionable and not offensive or abrasive. Some caramel malt and a tiny bit of hop citrus is present, but otherwise this is a light/medium bodied brew you could have a couple of, and enjoy, without thinking too hard about. Crystal clear amber body with a thin white head. Nice carbonation level. Nothing to write home about, but nothing to write bad about.
