COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Broadhead’s Underdog Pale Ale is a hard-hitting, deliciously hoppy beer that delivers a strong, lingering, bitter finish. Balanced by a foundation of malt and a subtle sweetness that give Underdog its lively character, Broadhead’s Underdog packs a serious punch.

A hazed amber ale with a very thin white head. In aroma, nice caramel malt with some smooth floral hops, and light boiled veggies. In mouth, a sweet caramel malt with herbal hops, a bit of solvent notes, not bad. Growler from Probstk, tasted with Probstk, GRM, Boutip and Ian, Dec. 2 2011. Merci Karl.

Growler from the brewery. Pours a murky copper with an average size diminishing frothy white head and decent lacing. Aroma of bready malt, light hops, grain, a hint of vegetal notes and some light, slightly sour fruit. Flavour of light hops, bready malt, light vegetal notes, some fruit and grain. Average bodied. Pretty good, a little mild for my liking but we drank it easily. -- Rated via Beer Buddy.

Pours a hazy dirty gold with a thin white ring. Aroma is faint malt. Taste has a moderate bite of hop bitterness but lacks the great hop flavouring. Slightly medicinal and metallic in the aftertaste. Average.

Boutip (3455) - Gatineau, Quebec, CANADA - DEC 7, 2011
Growler: Poured a light amber color ale with a medium size foamy head. Aroma consists of caramel malt with light dry hoppy notes. Taste is tastier then aroma with good caramel malt and some light dry hops with some astringent notes. Body is bit thin for style with good carbonation. Not bad but lacking a bit of hops punch for the style.

They got their licence to brew the beginning of October and have made 3 of their regular beers so far, the stout to be brewed next week. Great to see a new local place, Josh the brewmaster seems like a really nice guy, and they don’t seem to be able to keep up with demand which is great. Right now they have their beer at Zen Kitchen on tap, hopefully more to follow, bottles possible at some point in the future. To the beer. Sample in a nice red cup at the brewery. Amber with white head. Fresh, non sweet/artificial grains, barley, get a bit of pine and light citrus from the cascade and warrior hops. Smooth, slightly bitter, average body and decent carbonation, a nice dry, bitter but light finish. Surprisingly pleasant, very fresh - worth trying for sure. Looking forward to trying to other beers from this brewery.
