Fin (2568), Merton, Oxfordshire, England May 9, 2008 Polypin at Banbury Beer Festival 08-05-08 Pours a stunning reddy orange colour with great clarity. I found this to be very sweet (supposed to be dry!) admittedly there was a slight dryness towards the end. I cannot get away from a sacchriney artificial sweetness unfortunately, tastes powdery in the mouth, not my thing apples are very much bit players here, and yet I’m almost on my own with my views (poured the last third away) this stuff appears to be very popular. Doesn’t taste its strength. Really big on the apple front. Which is good for a cider. But it’s not a beer. DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Mar 6, 2006 Cask Handpump at the Beer House, Manchester 18/11/2001
Copper coloured and slightly sweet on the palate. Dry woody flavoured finish. DeepBlack (387), Derby, Derbyshire, England Oct 11, 2004 Currently available from The Alex in Derby, from the barrel down in the Cellar. This is a strong traditional Cider that belies it’s strength. Dark Orange & not cloudy in appearance it is perhaps a little to sweet for me. Smells & tasted very "fresh" defiantly worth a few swift halves CidreMonstre (19), Cambridge, England May 20, 2004 A very pleasant medium sweet cider, single varietal.
Fruity in both aroma and flavour, the alcohol is not that apparent. Available in draught only to my knowledge.
The reason that most British ciders stop at 8.4 % is that they are charged at Wine duty above that and this is a large step.
