Cask conditioned - no sparkler - Malt Shovel Northampton. Tastes and smells a bit like a rough homebrew but still better than the first two (more well known) beers drank tonight. The aroma to this pale ale is grassy and the flavour is rough and medicinal. It is though tasty and interesting even if one pint is enough. I think RPA stands for Retford Pale Ale,

Cask, at Newark Beer Festival, May 2004 as Retford Pale Ale. Notes recovered from a recently unearthed old notebook. Pale gold. Quite pungent hoppy aroma of grass and grapefruit. Some American hops here methinks. Falls away a bit on the palate. Light mouthfeel. In short, a clean and refreshing blond quaffer with a bit more too it than many of its peers.

An orange beer with a small disappearing head. The aroma is sweet flowery, but also with notes of oranges and caramel. The flavor is flowery and grassy on a sour metallic background, while the end is dry - I don’t like the flavor.
