On draught at BDT. Hazy gold with a large lasting fluffy white head. Very light aroma - quite grassy with fruit and alcohol way in the background - smells great but not Weizen - even some lemon sourness: intriguing. Taste follows, more alcohol, an almost smokey tang, plenty happening and while it warmed my ears I thought it was very well balanced. A bit thick, good low-level carbonation, a quickish dry finish with a little tartness in the finish. Blow me, I really like this!!

My Bottom Line:
Cloves, nutmeg and flowers meet banana esters in this chewy and cohesive spiced Weizenbock.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-There is plenty of lacing to decorate around the cloudy golden.
-Yeast character is very present from nose to finish; its phenols work admirably with the spices.
-The nose might be a tad aggressive for my tastes; there’s almost too much going on.
-The fruity spiciness in the finish is harmonious with the rest of the flavor profile.
-The full and cuddly mouthfeel remains soft even though this is a strong brew abv-wise.
-This really doesn’t feel like 8,8%.

On tap at the brewpub.
