750ml bottle. Golden orange in colour with a thin but lasting white head, some light lacing. The aroma is lightly alcoholic, oaky, green grapes. The flavour is woody, sweet, funky, oaky and quite white wine like. Sweet warming mouthfeel, medium body, medium carbonation. Finishes long, sweet and warming. A nice barrel aging here. The wood in the saison gives this a nice twist.

Bouteille - 750ml.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2015 750ml bottle. Hazy reddish brown with a thin foamy beige head. Flavors are sweet cereals, cherry, vanilla and toasted oak with fruity, vinous and acetic notes. Medium body, good carbonation, slick texture. Not really saisonesque, decent BA beer.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a large off-white foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma of light Chardonnay notes with caramelized sugar notes and light oak notes is not bad. Taste is a mix of Chardonnay notes with some nice oak notes with too much caramelized sugar for my taste and some residual sugar notes. Body is about average with great carbonation. The barrel-aging notes are quite good in this beer but I don’t get why so much caramel malt as used. A dryer finish would have been better.

A dark hazed reddish amber Saison with a thin white head. In aroma, beautiful fruity malt with loads of grapeskins, Brett notes, light cork, nice. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity malt with chardonnay grapeskins, Brett notes, boozy alcohol warmth, very nice. Bottle at OttBottShare March 2015.

750 mL bottled January 2014, drunk January 2015
Brilliant, burnished copper body has a slight chill haze and a full, fluffy white head that creates good sheets of lacing and is well-retained.
Lots of oak in the nose; butter, tannins and perhaps some light juiciness from the malt sugars blending with the grape notes (more likely just the yeast esters). Bit of cotton candy, lots of juicy pear and nothing overly rustic albeit some light sawdust/cellar mustiness. Aroma strength is pretty high, though most of it is just (quite forceful) esters. Alcohol not terribly apparent in the nose.
Very full mouthfeel/body, though not overly surprised seeing the abv on this one. Some light grape-like notes combine with the alcohol to give off an almost brandy-like character, but this is kept in check by the strong malt presence (sweet, gooey, doughy, honeyed white bread) and very boisterous fruity esters. Respectable effort but nothing here is particularly alluring. As well, the malt is a bit overbearing and the combo with the somewhat monotonous ester profile gives off more an impression of a boring American Trippel. Thanks for the bottle, MartinT!
