Almost black with virtually no head. Intense red wine aromas are in dominance. Medium body, silky, a bit of bitter chocolate but the flavors are again dominated by the barrel ageing. Medium, slightly acidic finish. Not bad, but the red wine presence is a bit too much for me in this impy stout. On tap at Soeurs Grises

Draft at Churchkey. Black, very dark brown large bubble head. Aroma of alcohol, bourbon, roasted coffee. Taste is strong vanilla, cream, oak, weak Starbucks. A bit strong on the bourbon flavor, I think.

Dickinsonbeer (5076) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUN 8, 2010
Tap at Mondial 2010. Pours a nice deep dark brown some fizzy head. Aroma is smoked meat sharp roasted malts, toast, green grassy hops and melted burnt plastic off phenolics. Flavor is grassy, mint, toffee, burnt brown malts, some nutty chocolate and roasted malts, but mostly mint chocolate, spearmint and wintergreen tic tacs- bordering on sharp nasty urinal cake chemical spice and mint, earthy dirt and phenolic bite in the finish. Meh.

(Rating #1283)

UPDATED: OCT 19, 2008 My Bottom Line:
Roasted malt flavors and bitterness develop docile coffee and chocolate notes for very drinkable nitro Stout.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A huge nitroed head crowns the pitch darkness.
-Earthy hop bitterness coalesces with the roasted malts.
-Body is somewhat bloated by the nitrogen, but a valiant maltiness resides within nonetheless.
-This is not a complex stout; it is one made for simple sessions and at 3.9%, it does its job quite well.

On tap at the brewpub.

Brune très foncée, moyen collet beige foncé avec de la dentelle. Arome de malte chocolaté, avec un soupson de café peu amère. Goût de café malté simple, peu chocolaté, plus aqueu. Elle peut être mieux!
