3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 joeneugs (2181) - Livermore, California, USA - JAN 3, 2013
Cool flip top bottle from Papsoe! It pours a dark brown with a slowly building and then shrinking brown/orange head. The aroma is kind of all over the place with some salted almonds, coffee, chocolate, soy sauce and some raisin/prune dark fruit. Maybe a hint of oak, but no hops at this point. The flavor has a lot of prune juice, coffee, some sugary residuals, and hints of oak near the finish. The body is oily and somewhat flat. Alcohol heat is not felt until the finish. Not bad, but a little messy. Hard to drink more than a few ounces.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marsiblursi (2952) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - FEB 13, 2012
(Draught) Pours dark brown to black. The aroma holds port, vanilla-ish oak, medium roasted malt, coffee, brown sugar, candi sugar and some dark berries. Floral, citric and cat pee-like hops. The flavour is almost cloyingly sweet with notes of coffee and “green” hops as well as hints of fruits and berries. The mouthfeel is round and a bit numbing. Medium to full bodied.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 bluebetty (1019) - AUSTRALIA - AUG 28, 2011
Bottle thanks to Papsoe. Pours a very dark brown with light bronze down the side of the glass. Small creamy tan coloured head. No real lacing as the head disappears to all but the smallest film. Nose is very sweet. Lots of dark fruits & brown sugar. A little bitter chocolate and roasted grain in support. Flavours are likewise quite sweet. Lots of alcohol and a little roasted grain on the finish. Fullish mouthfeel. A little too sweet for me but certainly very complex.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Cletus (6187) - Connecticut, USA - NOV 14, 2010
Bottle courtesy of papsoe. Pours dark brown with a slightly lighter brown head. Smells of roasted malt, chocolate, spicy, earthy, raisins, some warming alcohol. Tastes of chocolate, molasses, vanilla, spicy, some peppery hints, some leathery notes, some cognac presence on the finish. Enjoyable and the 13% ABV, while apparent, is well masked in this one.
