Bottle. Spicy aroma with lots of chocolate, roasted malt and sweet ripe fruits. almost black colour with soft light brown head. slightly bitter flavour with liquorice and nuts. Aftertaste somehow sweet. Soft and gentle mouthfeel. so much better than the ordinary stout from Brøckhouse. Hope fully Brøckhouse will rise again.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml stylish swing-top bottle (bb.10.04.2009) bought at Gammel Strand Øl og Vin in Copenhagen, and cellared for a few months. Light brown coloured head resting all the way over an almost jet black body. Fading lacings on the glass. Very pleasant aroma of chocolate and coffee with smooth liquorice beneath. Rich in flavour with lots of roasted, dark chocolate added by an herbal touch. The best part is the lingering bittersweet finish. The warming and full bodied ale gave me an hour of drinking joy at home in Tromsø (14.02.2009).

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2007 Vintage. Bottle. Pours a light brown color but appears black in the glass. Very light tan head lasts well. Very nice aroma of burnt fruits and dark chocolate. Flavor has some nice complexity, with a nice vinous-like character, as well as some deep chocolate and other decadent malts. Very nice ale here.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
2007 bottle. Hot boozy nose, vodka heavy chocolate syrup and chocolate liqueur. Creamy and rich up front, then sharp and pasty and drying over the middle. Weird, pasty, a little state and oxidized but comes across as a decadent and enjoyable chocolate dessert beer,

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Bottled) Very dark reddish brown with a medium, beige, partly lasting and lacy head. Very malty, slightly sweet and salty aroma with dried fruitiness. Lightly roasty, very malty flavor with hints of burnedness and some sweet toffee. Sweetness is somewhat emphasized when approaching the room temp. Still hides the alcohol completely without being too sweet. Medium to full body with slightly foamy, but pretty low carbonation. A balanced, smooth and pleasant Imperial Stout.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
0.5 l bottle. Black color with creamy tan head. Sweet aroma with coffee, chocolate, toffee, raisins, cola and licorice. Rich roasty coffeish and chocolatey flavor with raisins, licorice and hints of cola. Sweet but has enough roastiness and bitterness for a good balance. Chewy mouthfeel. Very tasty, could be even better with softer carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. It pours an almost black body, clear looking, with a nice, tan head leaving lacings. Lots of chololate in the aroma, along with roasted malt and some coffee, dark sugar, some alcohol and citrusy hops. Warming and more or less full-bodied in the mouth, with flavors of alcohol, lots of chocolate, coffee, sugar, roasted malt, citrusy hops giving some bitterness, and a touch of coffee-like bitterness. There’s also a quite well hidden aroma and flavor of cooked vegetables I’ve never found in an imperial stout before. Alcohol, chocolate, coffee and a pleasant bitterness in the finish. I could wish for an even fuller body and a little less sugars, but it’s sure a really nice one. (080929)

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
50 cl bottle, BB 10/09. Ebony with a foamy tan head. Nose is brown sugar, grain and coffee. Starts with a sharp tang that cuts through a substantial body. Sort of gritty like Dark Lord with a great rustic feel. This is one hot beast but it works so well. Whiskey, espresso, some chocolate creeps in with poblano spiciness. Definitely something to savor.
