4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poring into the glass an amazing display of foam appeared. Almost Guinness nitro like appearance, with bubbles being created in the bottom of the foam. Ending up as a large brown and thick creamy like head that really lasted. Excellent lacework. Pitch black color. Almost perfect appearance in my book! Aroma was also very impressive, with notes of berries, coffee, chocolate, liquorish, molasses, dried fruit mix. Almost vinous feel in the aroma. Over the palate some burned malty and hoppy bitter notes appear. Very full bodied with a surprisingly lively carbonation and thick light alcoholic texture. Flavor was moderated bitter and sweet with a light dominance of bitter notes. Ending was lingering and somewhat English liquorish like bitter. Very nice and overall balanced Imperial Stout.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500 ml bottle, via Papsoe. Pours a clear dark brown body under a one finger foamy brown head. Excellent retention and thick lacing. Nose is roasty with a slightly lactic note, some licorice, alcohol, and some light burnt rubber. The flavor is quite acrid and burnt with that nagging burnt rubber that comes out on the finish. Some alcohol and chalky yeast. Mouthfeel is oily and slick in texture with moderate fizzy carbonation. A little alcohol burn on the finish. Overall, this was pretty weak, just lots of stuff thrown in to yield a high alcohol Imperial Stout, one of many.

Pitch black colour with long lasting, creamy brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of black coffee and liquorice. Roasted, malty taste with strong, black coffee, liquorice and chocolate. Full bodied, velvet mouthfeel. Lots of hops, well balanced by the chocolate malts. Very nice.
