3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 faroeviking (8805) - HAITI - JUN 16, 2007
Bottle. Quite a seldom beer as the company it was brewed for is sold no longer is existing by its original name (ISO). Pours a black colour. Aroma of roasted malt and caramel, dark fruits and liquorice. The flavour has a roasty maltiness, caramel, dark chocolate, some bitter hops and liquorice. Good brew for the winter for sure...and I drank it during summer...not on a shiny day though.

Bottled (BB 02/2007)
Thanks Papsoe! A pitch black color with decent tan head. Strong aroma of licorice and berries in the nose. Burned malty flavor with notes of licorice. Medium-bodied - full enough. Aroma was promising, flavor is a bit one-dimensional.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Ungstrup (23922) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - FEB 3, 2007
Bottled. A pitch black beer with a nice bubbly but lasting brown head. The aroma is sweet chocolaty, and a bit of fruity oranges, but also with a dusty hop note. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of chocolate, of the dark bitter sort, but also hard roasted malt notes as well as some expresso roast coffee, and ground cocoa beans. The mouthfeel is fizzy due to high carbonation, but at the same time smooth - a weird combination. The alcohol is felt slightly on the tongue towards the end, which is dry and bitter from the roasted malt.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 NYHarvey (2153) - New York, New York, USA - OCT 31, 2006
Courtesy of Papsoe. Flip top bottle. Has a fairly concentrated black licorice aroma with sweet burt raisin and malt aromas. Pours flat black with a mocha head that looks like the craggy burnt top of a creme brule. Slightly watery fore, but the feel is fairly creamy...flavor gets it together in the middle with mild milk chocolate, licorice, roasted/toasted malt, some mild burnt bitterness. Could be a little thicker, but it is close. The licorice notes become more prominent as it warms as does the roast and chocolate asspect. Very mild dark fruit notes also appear at the warmer ranges. You Danes are hard on your stouts. I thought this was fairly above average.

Deep brown colour. Burnt aroma with notes of fennel and chocolate. Flavour is mild but without being bland: Sweet licorice, fennel, and a roasted bitter finish. Palate is smooth but a bit watery. All in all, a very nice and pleasant stout!
