jazzmaster (19), Denmark Nov 24, 2006 (bottle 50 cl) This is a rating on the 2005 edition, which I think is significantly better than the 2006 and than the 2005 last year. One year (+ 3 months at the brewery) of maturation has proven to be very benificial for this beer. All flavours now balances and compliments each other very well - the alcohol is now more a warming sensation in the background, while aromas of dark malts (allmost stout-like) blend together with aromas of dark fruits (plums, prunes) and spices. Very balanced - great beer. AndersR (194), Århus, Denmark Dec 13, 2003 Red brown dark beer with a huge tan foamy head that last. Aroma has hits of chocolate but also a fresh almost champagnelike flavor. Almost explodes in your mouth with *lots* of chocolate, malts and sweetness. Wow! Its up there with Svanekes Juleøl but is even more powerful in its taste. sinisterdad (13), Denmark Sep 9, 2007 Bottle 2006 - Beautiful dark brown/red color with a huge white head, good lacing. The aroma is a combination of spice, chocolate and yeast esters (banana, lemongrass, wheat). The taste is deep and warm with notes of prunes and figs and dark sugars. The finish is woody and dry. Nice christmas brew heland01 (5), Denmark does not count Feb 15, 2007 This is the nectar of the gods. Especially if you can get hold of the 2005 version. A dark brown, lush, abbey style beer, with notes of vintage port, prunes and apricots. raindog (525), Evansville, Indiana, USA Feb 25, 2004 Very dark,mahogany/red. Very large, creamy, tan, head. Holy shit, what a aroma. Tons of bread, roast, fig, dark fruit, and underlying peppery yeast, and slight hop. Palate is full, creamy, with soft carbonation. Starts yeasty, lots of dark fruit, and some chocolate. Mouth is enveloped with tons of bready/sweet malts, figs, slight roast, and fruit cake. Finish is malty, musty, and some wood, maybe. Just a bit too tangy, for me,toward the end. I still cannot believe how good this is. Thank you Mads,Brockhouse is a damn fine brewery!
