COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: A round, mellow and dry stout. It is brewed with pale ale malt, caramel and chocolate malts along with roasted non-malted barley. Brøckhouse Stout is top-fermented with fine hop bitterness and a whiff of chocolate. The stout appears dry and creamy with a thick lush head. It has a moderate content of carbon dioxide. The stout is magnificent with food – it goes well with the spicy kitchen as well as seafood and heavy chocolate desserts. Best served at 10-12 degrees celsius.

TAR (2236) - Lafayette, USA - AUG 5, 2004
Deep charcoal with a bronzed rim. Thick mixture of large and small mocha bubbles. Burnt malt hulls and coffee dominate the aroma amid roasted barley, caramel, and moist soil subtleties. Fairly airy with unripe plums and some tar, as well. Fluffy, extremely soft carbonation. Slippery body. Roasted barley is immediately greeted by gentle acidity, stifling the initial richness. Chocolate malts clash with the baker’s chocolate and the sharpness of the roasted barley. Short-lived caramel in the center. Inkier than it is fruity, which compounds the yogurty acidity and metallic flavors. Lush notes of espresso richen the brew and somewhat salvage the finish, giving way to lasting notes of burnt malt hulls and feathery roasted barley textures. Downright boring and uninspiring.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, with a medium light brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolat, coffee and smoke. Flavor is about the same but with chocolat dominating. Its has a watery touch and a pleasent bittersweet finish. A very nice stout.

0.5l bottle. My friend Kåre sent me three different stouts from Denmark and this is the one I liked the most. You can feel roasted malt and sweetenes that ends up in pleasant bitterness. Well crafted beer indeed.

trapez (1353) - Hilleroed, DENMARK - MAY 24, 2008
Bottle 0.5 l. Bought Irma Hilleroed. Colour black with small beige head. Aroma dark chocolate and smoke. Tastes like the aroma -slightly bitter from the hops. I have tasted this stout more than 10 times and never really felt anything extraordinary contrary to most brews from Brøckhouse. Soft mouthfeel.

Bottle. 5,6% ABV. Pours dark brown/black with big light brown head. In nose roasted malts and notes of coffee, some smoke and a little chocolate. Flavour is about the same with the roastiness in front, smoke, coffee and it ends of in a watery bitterness. Quite good for a "low" percenter stout.

i am surprised how high a rating i give right now, but this is a very well crafted beer. soft, good looking, tastes great and it’s not even that strong. I can’t remember to have tasted this good a stout with such a low alc. percentage. If you like stout even just a little bit, you’ve got to try this one.
