COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

English: A round, mellow and dry stout. It is brewed with pale ale malt, caramel and chocolate malts along with roasted non-malted barley. Brøckhouse Stout is top-fermented with fine hop bitterness and a whiff of chocolate. The stout appears dry and creamy with a thick lush head. It has a moderate content of carbon dioxide. The stout is magnificent with food – it goes well with the spicy kitchen as well as seafood and heavy chocolate desserts. Best served at 10-12 degrees celsius.

Very dark brown with huge medium-brown head. Roasty notes in the nose with black malt. Some nuttiness. Thick malts and chocolate, some tar, hints of coffee. Chewy, sweet finish.

Dark black color, steamy tan head. The aroma is roasty & sweet; thin. The flavor is fruity & chared. Finishes balanced with a smoky tail. Thanks Madsberg!

Bottled. Black. Licoricy, hoppy aroma. Clean malt profile with a rich hoppy flavour with notes of licorice. Seems well balanced.

UPDATED: FEB 2, 2007 Black with a tiny light brown head. Unique aroma of licorice, roast malt, flowers, earth and hay. Flavour is even more unique, with an initial sour impression that broadens with sweetness and bitterness and a dominant licorice tone. Clearly a love or hate beer, and I’m one of the lovers.

Opaque black, decent creamy coffee head. Roasted nose. Coffee fruity, hints of tar, medium bodied. Roasted malts in the finish, some unbalanced yeast flavors. Simple stout but drinkable.

Bottle. Pours almost pitch black with a thick, brown head which settles nicely. Aroma has coffee and chocolate in it. Also a whiff of something which makes me think of vanilla, but isn’t. Flavour is a nice blend of coffee and licorice, with slight notes of tar, and a light/medium bitterness. Sweetish, but not too much. Quite watery, though, which kinda ruins the overall impression.

Bottled. Fine stout, with a dominating coffee taste, but the aftertaste is of hazel nuts. A little liquirice, too. Both sweet and bitter. Not the heaviest of stouts, this is more of an refreshement than a meal in itself.

[Tasted in 2004 in Valby.] It was maybe this beer, which turned me further on to sample more stouts eventhough it’s not for the fainthearted. Lots of notes such as coffechocs in a complex way, but with a soft and smooth factor, which is good for a newcomer.

Black (thick looking!) colour with small head. Sweet, milk, little soapy, liqourice, thick. Quite a mouthfull considering only 5,5%ABV.
