A perfumed barley wine, with all the best elements of brewing. Full bodied malty flavour, brillinantly hopped. Quite heavy. I coul only drink half a bottle.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Bottle at Fynske Øldage) Powerful stuff. A heavy barleywine. Yet with a light mouthfeel. I don’t find it as sweet as a lot of other barleywines. A treat.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2009 2006 vintage; courtesy of oh6gdx - clear amber-brown colour, aroma of nut, pine and quince marmalade; solid malt body, subtle and moderate carbonation; long dry and very bitter aftertaste of pine and nuts; resiney - very good though a bit too young

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Vintage 2005. Cellared properly since I bought the 500ml flip-top bottle at Barley Wine, Copenhagen in mid-May 09. Shinning, reddish-amber body under plain, white head that left fragile lacework behind. Inviting aroma with plenty of dried fruits. Smooth vinous taste of spicy hops, bready malts, figs and nuts. Ripe fruits to a lingering aftertaste. Strong, but quite hidden alcohol. Lovely rounded mouth feeling. Warming, slow sipper. More than an hour of joy on a dark and rainy Saturday night (Tromsø, 26.09.2009).

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle… NFL Day at dchmela’s in O-Town... This beer rocks!… Cloudy orange ale with a small, creamy, white head. Good retention. The malty, vinous aroma provides additional, rich notes of brown sugar and praline. Full-bodied and fatty with lucid carbonation. Full-blown malt bomb! Sweet toffee and candy sugar with a fuzzy fruit undercurrent. A touch boozy. Finishes sweet, creamy and rich. Man, I love dessert! Big thanks to TheCheeseMan for providing me the opportunity to try this gem!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Rating #319, sample at Copenhagen Beer Festival 2010
Appearance was opaque caramel-brown / yellow.
A hops, caramel, toffee, and dried fruit bomb in the aroma.
Flavor was more yeasty, and else very similar to the aroma. Nice subdued bitter finish. Alcohol was hidden very well, and more similar to a very good belgian strong ale. Very enjoyable beer with a very creamy and oily palate.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
(Bottle 50 cl) Slightly hazy amber with tiny, floating particles. Small, off-white head. Vinous aroma with distinctive alcohol. Full-bodied with notes of sherry - perhaps even cognac - and overripe plums. Warming alcoholic finish - a true sipping beer. 291005
