thedm (3407), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Aug 3, 2007 This draft brew from the brewery poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized bubbles that were mostly lasting and left behind a transparent typically carbonated light orange colored body and a fair lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy. The crisp mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish. The mild flavor contained notes of mild hops and mild astringency. Notable abscence of caramel malts. Not one that I would likely buy again. Ughsmash (3148), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 2, 2007 On tap at Brockway. Poured a clear medium golden with a short white head and sticky lacing. Aroma was sweet, but I couldn’t peg the driver... some pine and citrus bitterness too.. not complex, but I had trouble pegging some elements. Tacky, sweet caramel and bready malts in the flavor with floral hoppage.. medium-high bitterness.. decent balance. Just less than medium-bodied.. OK flow to it.. some spices on the finish. ElGaucho (1726), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Nov 18, 2006 Soft hop aroma, fruity. Gold body that is mostly clear, slightly hazy. Frothy, off-white head. Excellent lace. Some bubbles. Not very good retention. A pale ale should have more cloudiness like a true ale. Small head also contributed to a relatively low rating for appearance. Not very hoppy at all. A little thin on the palate. Hard to drink. Has a harsh aftertaste. Needs more hops and sweetness. Not a good beer. frankenkitty (1834), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA Oct 30, 2006 Served as a pale, bright amber with constant effervescence and a white halo by the time I got around to it. Dishwater & citrus nose is not the most appealing with more orange than grapefruit. MIld honey under a woodsy bitterness and an ABV hit to follow. Tingly mouthfeel with a dry finish.

On tap at Brockway Chophouse, Palatine, IL 60067
Cornfield (4468), Oak Forest, Illinois, USA Sep 25, 2006 Interesting spin on an ESB in that it relies mainly on the hops for flavor... something that appeals to me. It pours a clear bronze body with a pillowy white head. The aroma is strong with floral hops, the sweet malt barely squeezing through. The flavor begins with some light malts, mayhaps a touch of apple, but then the flowery bitterness rushes forward and takes control. The finish is a prolonged bitterness. Not bad.

Brockway Chophouse, Palatine, IL
